You may look at the Panasonic ZS line of small (pocket) cameras - small sensor 1/2.3 with 16 megapixels, EVF and a zoom from 25mm to 720mm. I carry this camera in my shirt pocket almost every day - about $ 500.

Please gimme the names and models of mirrorless cameras that use interchangeable lenses, are in this price range, can be used as a P&S, and are small enough to fit in one's pocket.
Surprised no one mentioned the Fuji X100T or X100F. Definitely fits in the pocket, although a bit over $1000. I have one, its a great camera, APS sensor, and its Made in Japan.
I just bought the Nikon A1000. It's small, but not as small as the Sony HX99 or HX90. It has a focal range of 24mm-720mm and shoots RAW. It has a small sensor but picture quality is fine, especially in normal lighting conditions. Buffer is a bit slow, but overall I like the camera.

That would be a Lumix DC-ZS70. For a 1" sensor with a 10X zoom I love my DMC-ZS100
Seems to be a misunderstanding as to what the poster is actually looking for, is it a fixed lens advanced point & shoot or a compact system camera? Can be a big difference as far as size.
