My opinion it is NOT the camera, but the person
behind the camera. Just like when you read a
great book, you don't need to know what word
processor he/she used.

false equivalency, and a verrrrry tired one at that

My photographs generally show what I wanted to
express but that what I wanted to express isn't what
I remember of the event. They can be totally
different. I tried to make the photographs interesting.

Oh now puh-leeeeze ....

Don't be saying that your memories are boring :-)

Well many of the events were boring although did yields interesting images. Some events are very dear in my memory but I can't capture those memories with the camera.

In medicine, there's a saying: "The most important part of the stethoscope is between the earpieces."
Same idea with photography equipment.

So I seen a debate on a facebook group today and as usual I had to give my 2 cents okay maybe with inflation it is worth more then that these days. It was the usual this brand of camera is better then this one etc., but in the end this is what I wrote in reply.........

No matter what anyone says the brand or kind of camera you have does not make the photo.......the photographer does and all that a photograph does is allow the photographer to share his memory of an event with the rest of us........thank you for sharing your memory is the only thing that matters in the end!
So I seen a debate on a facebook group today and a... (show quote)

Well said. I started to say more . . ., but no need to.

Best camera is the one you are carrying right now.

I like the nut behind the lens part. But most of all, the human eye is the best critique and supporter at the same time ..

No one and I repeat no one has the right to belittle another human being over a simple thing like a memory.

Very True. Actually no one has to right to belittle anyone over anything.
Sadly, many sad souls feel the need to glorify themselves and bring others to their level of misery.

I will add Photography to this analogy I just read lately... " Debating Politics, Religion, or Photography is like taking poison and waiting for the other person to die ".

Thank you for this comment. No one has the right to belittle another’s attempt at sharing something that gave them joy. Belittling is cruelty for the sake of harming another emotionally.

There is some truth in your comment, but I beg to differ with the last paragraph. I have done this myself, moving up from the D7200 to the D750. I have found that the full frame camera is better in low light situations than the crop sensor camera, just as one example of one camera being better than another camera. it would be hard to convince me that one using a D5600 camera can take as good a photo as one using a D5 camera, with all things being equal. Granted, the D5600 is a very good camera, capable of capturing awesome photos, but, to my way of thinking, it cannot compare to the D5. I can compare it to the recruiting athletes for college sports, you have those elite 5 star athletes, then you have the good 2 star athletes. You get what you pay for. I look at the photos in the NPHOTO magazine, and the vast majority of photos exhibited in the magazine are taken with upper end high performance cameras. Of course, the type of glass one shoot with plays a role, but that is for another thread.

But then there are also those who have the most expensive top tier camera money can buy, yet can't shoot a truly compelling photo even if their very life depended on it, as they simply lack the imagination and creativity necessary to do so.

For those who lack imagination and creativity, I don't believe that is the case. Those photographers should be properly instructed as to what to do. That will take time and patience. This should be the trumpet call for ALL of us to as them to post their photos. Then we can foster another photographer

Good advice to foster a protégée, but while you can teach technique, it is much harder teach imagination and creativity.

Within the bounds of the law and good moral behavior, "It works best for ME," is the most relevant answer to those "which is better" questions.
