So I seen a debate on a facebook group today and as usual I had to give my 2 cents okay maybe with inflation it is worth more then that these days. It was the usual this brand of camera is better then this one etc., but in the end this is what I wrote in reply.........

No matter what anyone says the brand or kind of camera you have does not make the photo.......the photographer does and all that a photograph does is allow the photographer to share his memory of an event with the rest of us........thank you for sharing your memory is the only thing that matters in the end!

My opinion it is NOT the camera, but the person behind the camera. Just like when you read a great book, you don't need to know what word processor he/she used.

Better advice: don't argue on Facebook.

That was why I ended up commenting at the end of the day the best camera is the one in your hands

I can't say one camera brand is better than the other because I don't own all of them and even if I do what's good for me not necessarily good for others. But I do say without the camera no photo is possible and I don't share my photos with others. I do take photos as a recording of some things but often not so.

First you misunderstand inflation. 2 cents after inflation is worth less than 2 cents. So maybe you had to add 2.45 cents today because of inflation. Ok moving on...

The result is 10% recording device and 90% the nut behind the lens. Sort of like saying a better brush would make a better painting. Well, yes it contributes, but it is not the main thing by a long shot.

There is some truth in your comment, but I beg to differ with the last paragraph. I have done this myself, moving up from the D7200 to the D750. I have found that the full frame camera is better in low light situations than the crop sensor camera, just as one example of one camera being better than another camera. it would be hard to convince me that one using a D5600 camera can take as good a photo as one using a D5 camera, with all things being equal. Granted, the D5600 is a very good camera, capable of capturing awesome photos, but, to my way of thinking, it cannot compare to the D5. I can compare it to the recruiting athletes for college sports, you have those elite 5 star athletes, then you have the good 2 star athletes. You get what you pay for. I look at the photos in the NPHOTO magazine, and the vast majority of photos exhibited in the magazine are taken with upper end high performance cameras. Of course, the type of glass one shoot with plays a role, but that is for another thread.

Ok a bit of back ground on my comment a woman was out riding a bike with her family stopped and took a shot of a couple of tree swallows at a nesting box with her cell phone. Then posted her photo which she was proud of to a birding site in Ontario, she was told she had no right to post such a poor photo to a photography site. No one and I repeat no one has the right to belittle another human being over a simple thing like a memory.

I do not believe anyone else could have said it better. Regardless of camera or lens in use it is the expertise of the photographer and his creativity what makes the image.
Yes, sharing the images is very important.

While it may be "a poor carpenter that blames his tools", having good equipment and knowing how to use it is very helpful. With that said, a lot of the nature photos that I and many of us do are a combination of skill and simply being in the right place at the right time. The portrait, nude, and other studio work that I see here requires a lot more talent and knowledge to get good images. In those cases the light (and shadow) is controlled by the photographer, and their skills (or lack thereof) shows!
