You want to change a woman's mind?

Yay, good luck with that.

If I had $900 to buy her camera I would spend it on a new camera instead of her overpticed used one.

Is my grammer and spelling satisfactory
for those who CARE? lol

Your grammar and spelling are unsatisfactory, but who cares? :D

If she wants a nice new camera, then she should get one. I'd bet anything that she'll say she likes the new images better than the old.

Since she has a Nikon, you could steer her toward the D4. I hear that's pretty good. Or else, she could step down to the D800 and save some money. :D

Then after it sits on her dresser for a month or two untouched, you can buy it from her for $900

Good Morning! Before you spend any money on equipment or books, hit your local library. Ours has a wide selection of books that show you how to aceive certain effects with your camera. (including specialized "dummies" books and Visual Instruction books) Not only might she change her mind, but it will cost you nothing but time. If she sticks with the d3100, you can purchase these books. If she moves on to a "better" camera, you will not be out the cost of the books. Even if you do move on to a new camera, I would recommend books for reference-Pick one that speaks your language. I prefer ones with a mix of simpler language and picture examples (no, not stick figures and 3 letter words, lol). :)

Hey, please find out what is she on... So we can really stay far away from it... Suggest to her husband to gift her a photography workshop. Being with an actual class/workshop she will discover that it's not the camera but the tool behind the eyepiece.

Depending on what you shoot and under what conditions the camera body can make a huge difference. Just try some really high ISO shots in a dim environment with the 3100. Equipment is not THE determining factor in IQ but, it often contributes more than some would like to admit. What you shoot, where and under what conditions should determine what equipment you use.

It's the old "the chain is only as strong as the weakest link."

If you replace all the links with stronger ones (better lenses, better camera, faster memory card, etc.) but, keep one weak link, (the same finger on the button) the chain as a whole is not any stronger.

Better yet, spend it on a camera that takes better pictures.

Could always point out that no book on the subject of photography says that you need a certain camera. In fact most will tell you it doesn't matter what camera you have but how you see the shot.

He should tell her he wants a new wife for the same reasons she wants a new camera.

That's a whole different kettle of fish. A new camera won't guarantee better photos, but a new wife could make for a happier home - depending. :D
