Went to the races yesterday. First time in about fifty years. So here goes.
Nikon D500
80-400 4.5-5.6 auto iso auto white balance.
Shot a lot in aperture priority and some in manual, and some in shutter priority. I was all over the place but my comfort level was aperture.
Comments and suggestions welcome of course.

Nice shots! Reminds me of Motorcity Drag Way where I spent many a day and night watching the quarter milers race. I can still feel the rumble in my chest as the cars flew past, thanks for the memories.
I watch those same drag races on TV yesterday...well until my wife and I had to run to a dinner date with friends. Great shots. Although it has probably hasn't been as long as you since I was at the drag races, I was actually at the Winter National's drag race in Pomona 20± years ago. So, like you, they are still fun to watch. I have to go thru some old boxes of prints to see if I can find my photos from that trip to share. Even as I am getting older, I'm not racing, but I sure enjoy the thrill of watching especially live is the best...sound, the smell, the smoke...nothing like it. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks Wildbill for looking.

You talk about rumble wow and the noise when 3-4 dragsters went off. One time I forgot to put on my ears and whoa. I didn't forget again.

Nice work. I had the pleasure a number of time in the mid eighties to photograph the truck races at Raceway park in Englishtown NJ. Was a great time. Keep up the good work.

Yeah the day was kind of neat. Fifty years ago it was nothing like this. The fastest the dragsters went was I think around 196 mph. Now you get to walk around and talk to the crew members, look really close at the cars. Of course prices are different too. How is $8.00 for a hot dog and $9.50 for a beer. Thankfully my friend took me and bought a three day ticket with meals, hat, etc. for about 950.00 for the event. He takes his racing seriously.
Be well,
Jules
