I have been a pro photography for 30+ years and very fluent in PhotoShop, BUT it really irked me when they went to their “subscription” BS! I tried the FREE demo for Affinity Photo and found it was an easy transition from PS. The 200+ video tutorials make it a breeze to learn. Only need to watch the videos that you’re interested in.
Affinity Photo DOES everything I need it to do, which is more than what 98% of you out there will ever need it to do.
Try the free demo for 10 days, watch a few of the videos, and get it now for only $40 (on Sale). You will NOT be sorry!

Linda, I saw the topic. I have been using Affinity Photo as my main editor. I am very happy that I decided to buy it when it first appeared.
Affinity has everything any photographer needs to make beautiful editing of digital files. I wish the Curves adjustment was better because I tend to use it even for color correction of my files but that is not available with Affinity. For color correction I use other parameters.
Sharpening is excellent with this program. It is easy to overdo it and I tend to stay on the conservative side. Export is used instead of save because the save parameter saves the file as an Affinity Photo file.
Almost all adjustments are placed automatically on layers. This is very convenient because it allows the operator to go back to the layer for further adjustment or to delete the layer if necessary. All of these adjustments are non destructive.
The RAW machine is easy to work with and yields excellent results. There are many videos available in You Tube for learning and I prefer them to the book offered by the company that makes the software.
It is an excellent editor and its price is very reasonable. Like all other softwares it takes some time to learn it. Here is one of the many tutorials available.

Curves is readily available as an Adjustment BUT I prefer the Curves in Lightroom.

I have been working with Affinity for 2 years, and love working with it. Initially their tutorials were weak in a number of areas, but they are continuing to improve. One weak spot persists - replacing a blown-out sky with one of my "sky" photos. For these I have to revert to PSE, before returning to Affinity. On a scale of 1 - 10, I'd give iAffinity an 8.

I am in the process of learning Affinity. I'm curious to learn how many of my fellow members here are using Affinity? And to all who respond, 1st. Thanks, and 2nd. how much do you like it?
Elliott,
I have been using Affinity for a year plus. For me, and I am 74 years old and just started my photography interest with a DSLR 5 years ago, it is really comfortable to use this program. Cost me $49, they have updated it twice, and there are a couple hundred tutorial videos available, many available from the program help folder. It seems to have most options that he big boys have accept maintaining an inventory - and I didn't buy the program for that purpose. It works in layers, filters, etc. Really like this program. Recommend it to everyone.

Affinity is great. I can do everything that I will ever need to do to my images.

I bought Affinity Photo back in Jan. 2015 and I find it to be a good replacement for Photoshop and use it regularly.
I use PS and Affinity. Just do it!
Got it last week & bought the book also. I am a total novice but I'm 99% sure I'm going to like it.

Their help and videos are really good.
Been a user for 2+ years. Switched from Elements. Great program, easy to learn, lots of power, great tutorials, inexpensive and all future upgrades are free. Got it for $29.95 (3 months worth of PSCC) and have talked numerous others to get the program. Buy it, you’ll like it!
I have had the Affinity software for less than a year tough I have only recently spent significant time learning the tool. The online tutorials are great but I found that purchasing the textbook has helped me learn more faster because it provides access to actual files you can download and work through exercises in the book on each topic. Watching a video and listening to a voice is great but I find I don't retain as much as when I actually am performing the steps myself on a file they provided and following the instruction of the book. For photo editing software, Affinity has provided the best VALUE to me by far.
