WASHINGTON (AP) — In a major step toward opening U.S. skies to thousands of unmanned drones, federal officials Thursday solicited proposals to create six drone test sites around the country.

I have a real problem with these drones. I think not only are there security concerns but privicy is an issue. The article tells us each state and municipality will post their privicy policies? Then what? Not click accept like you do on line? Technology in general is creating a need to look at privacy issues. CCTV everywhere...websites collecting massive amounts of data......camera phones and now the government sticking it's nose into healthcare. I believe we need to take a long careful look at how privacy will be effected in the future.

Because I have an issue with drones I'm looking through the bottom of a Jim Beam bottle? Interesting logic. Maybe someone is projecting? Just out of curiosity...which of the statements I made to you believe to be factually inaccurate?

The difference between manned and unmanned is twofold. As time goes on, the drones will get smaller and smaller. This allows them to get to places a manned aircraft could never get...and without as much noise. Plus the costs will go down. The result will be a large increase in the amount of surveillance to the point it may become a problem.

Lol ok I see what the problem is...the right to privacy you have to agree does not apply when you are out in public...but the minute the word drone is brought up...unlike airplanes and other orbital things ( that has been there forever AND taking pictures) because they are remote you think you still have the right to privacy...well you don't. IF you are outside (the only place a drone can watch you ) you still do noy have that right.

And you just had to show your true thoughts..Obama. My God get over him.
quote=rcirr quote=F16 Club Where are those peopl... (show quote)

For purposes of full disclosure, I am in the electronic security business. I do a lot of CCTV work for hospitals, schools as well as municpalities. I agree, there is no expectation of privacy in public (seems kind of obvious but some people don't get it) however...what about your back yard? Do you have to give up your right to privacy to let some light into your 2nd floor window? What if the drone has infrared capability? Maybe super sensitive listening devices? If you see a manned helicopter hovering outside your bedroom window, you might be able to figure out something was up. On the other hand, a silent drone 18 inches long would probably go unnoticed. My point is the potential for abuse by the government, government employees or even civilians that have access to the equipment is great.

As to my "true thoughts"....it took me a while to realize you were referring to my mentioning government involvement into healthcare. So it's your position I should get over him? It's not him...I could care less about Obama personally. It's the stupid law that gives the government all kinds of new powers over myself and the entire country that I have a problem with. Get over him? Get over losing more and more freedom? I don't think so. Also for your information, I agree with his use of drones overseas against terrorists. I just don't think the government should have the power to invade citizens' privacy without a warrant. My problem is with the policy...not the man.

Actually, devices like that already exist...but they are too expensive and still a little to unreliable to be practical.
