If am correct that Temco Trainer was the TT-1. As I recall we had 14 of them at NAAS Saufley Field being tried out as primary jet trainers.

Yes that was it. Georgie was stationed at Saufley when he was in training after Pensacola... '57/'58.. Tried to attach a couple of pics but it didn't work.

How was it destroyed? I had married and was living in San Antonio after my dad retired.

I finally figured out why my pics wouldn't load so I'm trying it again:

The aircraft in the lower photo is a North American T2J-1 Buckeye. They were the training aircraft we used in VT-4 when I was assigned there in 1961-62. This was at Sherman Field, Mainside NAS Pensacola.

You are more than welcome. I was stationed at NAAS Saufley for 2 years, July 59-July61 VT-1 squadron and then at Sherman Field July 61-Dec.62.with VT-4 squadron. I have a pretty good working knowledge of Naval Aviation at Pensacola during that time period. I was an Aviation Machinist Mate and saw a lot of student pilots go through training in that 31/2 year period.

Me at Saufley Field, A/C is a T34-B Mentor

Thanks for the Navy Base in Texas answer - next thing you know, you'll tell me we have a US prison in Cuba or something... :)

There is a women's prison at Lockhead in Ft. Worth.
