I am new to Hedgehog and am own a canon eos rebel and have been shooting in auto and would like to know if there is any challenges or lessons to get me off auto
I do not understand and find that I get confused as the lessons seem to cross over each other, eg. appeture and av . I need basics what to shoot with each different feature. so confused
Do you still have your instruction book?
Order the Magic Lantern Book for your camera.....a wealth of knowledge in it on the camera itself and also on photography.
Also, be prepared for some wise ass replies to your question, but don't let that stop you from asking more. Welcome to the group. Most here are eager to help.
yes I do,struggling to understand but have not taken it and actually tried anything, I will do that though

Try to learn and somewhat master one item at a time before moving on to the next. EXPERIMENT!

Hi Joey, I think the best way to get off auto is to get an understanding of the exposure triangle.
http://digital-photography-school.com/learning-exposure-in-digital-photographyTypically you set your ISO in concrete and then shoot in aperture priority.
As you adjust your aperture the ISO stays locked and the shutter changes to where it needs to be.
This is not the only way to do it but it is a good start and can be used to help gain understanding.
this is great advice thank you lighthouse

Welcome Joey. You get the award for the longest topic title I've seen, but it is much better than "Help".
