I have CS5 and love it even though I only use a small portion of its capabilities. In the past I upgrade every 2nd or 3rd time. Adobe doesn't seem to mind and I only pay $199 this way instead of $599. I know it's still $199. but they do have a great product that is very useful to me and I am willing to pay for that. I belong to NAPP which also has members discounts on many plugins and new versions of photoshop. Strange though, I haven't heard of CS6 yet but perhaps will in the next few weeks, just read about the new nikon with over 30 megs on a full size chip, damn this job gets expensive if you get all the new toys. I usually wait till they are older and more experienced, my life story:-)

Because it is a bootleg that works only for 30 days (unless you disconnect from internet when in use).

And wait until someone works out the bugs (in anything) is wise, not a life story but the intelligence of someone who does not want to be taken in by 'newest and greatest' thing before the apocalypse.

What is CS5:

The original and still most powerful imaging software originally created for the Mac. It made the illusion that the MAC was the best computer around. Not that it is on Windows the Mac legend took a kick on the butt. Mac is is an excellent computer, don't get me wrong but really pricey for what it really is....

CS # is just the version or iteration number. This software is expensive but can be tried for free (15 to 30 days) using the download from Adobe.

http://www.adobe.com/downloads/

If you know what you are doing, after the time limit you uninstall the software, clean the registry and install it again for 30 days... It is easy for some folks (IT specialists) but not recommended for mid-range technicians and below.

Don't worry the local (censored) community college is also still on CS3. We are preparing our kids for the future.

Adobe also makes it easy to basically lease CS5, and probably some others of their software, too. CS5 is as low as $35 a month, depending on how you set up your lease.

In 'the day' software companies made incremental releases (1.0-1.1-1.0) and didn't charge for them. Some would even deliver more major releases (1.6-2.0) free of charge and only charge for an upgrade version when it was a very significant release.
