Just don't use a shotgun....The buckshot will play the devil on your teeth while eating the rock.
I am assuming you will eat what you kill. Oh, and don't let the game warden catch you...Rocks are a protected species.
Please post the recipe you use to cook the rocks.

Don't forget "pet" rocks are a protected species.

A rock'et of smaller caliber would work nicely

I was thinking that caliber and barrel length would be two things to take into consideration.

I have a friend who is a taxidermist. I can get you a good deal on having it mounted if you bag a large one.  I really hope someone new to UHH doesn't read some of this. In case they do all I can say is we do discuss photography on occasion.

your taxiidermist will do well down south, they relate to people who mount animals.

As stupid as I may seem that comment didn't go over my head.

You need a rock-et launcher.

Take several. You never know what you might want to shoot. Consider your environment. Will you be carrying with your new sling? In holsters? Or concealed in your photographer's vest? What kind of lens will you be using? Will you be shooting close-up or long distance? If shooting at night, you may want to suppress your flash.

I'd carry a slingshot in case your ammo runs low. An eye for an eye, a rock for a rock.

I know from several experiences. If I ever think about buying another diamond I hope somebody will hit me in the head with a VERY large rock.

I'm not sure if you can get it in TN. but Dale's Sauce and Southern Flavor works on just about everything. Just don't over cook the rock. It tends to make them tough.

I prefer a Barret M82-A1, for rock hunting. If I am planning on bringing anything I shoot back with me, a much smaller caliber.

I have seen too much destruction of rocks in my life time. From giant machinery crushing, to explosive annihilation and now someone going out and hunting innocent rocks with guns. It breaks my heart that people can be so cruel and cold. Rocks should be left alone in peace. Please join me this April 2013 to march in protest against this senseless hunting.

I don't think this will be a "Million Man March." I agree with your view on rock hunting. Remember rocks are people too. They do have feelings.

Estwing make a fine line of weapons for taking rock in their natural habitat. One caution though is the GAD bar.It is sharp so I treat it like a knife.
And as always watch out for leverite, its everywhere.

I've found the M72 or if you can find one a M203 can be very effective in numerous conditions. :D

Depends on your fear factor. Some will take an assault rifle, while others just use a smaller rock to take out a larger rock. Wear a hard hat for falling rocks.

If your coming over this way, U better bring a Blow-gun. You will have to blow the snow away to find the rocks. U could start a new fad around here, looking for agates in the winter time. But beware, we find a lot of sex-stones around here.
