I have been watching these birds fly by a few at a time for a couple of weeks. I tried to take a photo of one just for ID but they were so fast I could never get one in focus. I recently visited the wetlands to practice my BIF shots and discovered they were all over the area. Since they were circling in and out of the area, not straight toward the south and then gone, I knew this was the best chance to catch one. I managed to get a few...see shots #1 - #4. Then I noticed they were gatering in huge swarms just above the trees south of me. I was amazed to see a huge swarm fly into and around a small tree, like a swarm of bees. It was hard to believe so many birds could fly so close together. Then they would suddenly burst into flight, circle around and go back to the same little tree and do it all over again. This all happened in less than a minute. See shots #5 - #8.

Sorry about the long narrative but I hope you find this as interesting as I did. Photo quality not very good, I had to shoot directly into the sun, but maybe good enough for you to enjoy.

   Don't apologize for the narrative. If you explain, then its the only way we know what you were up against and what the pics are about. I think your BIF shots are great! Considering the speed and small size of those birds, you nailed it on most of them. I never could capture one. Thanks for sharing these.

I wonder if there was a big hatch of insects in and around those trees. Nice photos. Birder

I wish I knew. They didn't appear to be feeding. I was hoping someone on the forum would know.
