does any one know if there's a solution to stop the 24-105 L series lens from extending whilst carrying the camera on a strap ( i currently use a blackrapid strap) i have the 100-400 L series and you can adjust the friction to prevent it extending uneccesarily
PS totally over the moon with this camera

Try a wide rubber band.

There have been several comments here on UHH about using wrist bands such as the 'Live Strong' bands and others that are 'sold' for a donation.

Your problem is called "zoom creep". I have read where lens owners have place wide rubber-bands on the end of focusing/zoom tube, allowing overlap to also touch the lens tube. The added drag of rubber on metal prevents zoom creep.

i don't even think about it, when i bring the camera up to eye level most times i have to adjust the zoom anyway.

Some lenses have a 'zoom lock' to prevent 'zoom creep.'
