Interesting to note the D600 is now selling at B&H for $2000 - body only. Does this mean the spot problem has been fixed or that the supply is limited which could mean Nikon is not making them any longer?

I'd rather have a little oil at first, then have my flash button fly off without being able to put it back! HAHA

Wonderful how every time a D600 or a D800 is mentioned in the forum the immediate feedback is about perceived problems. Lots of people claiming problems which when looked at were rather the user and not the camera. The D600 oil issue, now expanded to cover every speck of dust bad handling allows into the body has not been an issue for a long time. The D800 had a very small number of units with a focus issue; again this is past history. No one should be put off these cameras. The D800 is in many areas probably the best FX DSLR available today. Seeing the usual exaggeration of the situation I am surprised anyone on the forum would ever buy these cameras.

Dave if you have had a 600 with issues you would change your tune. I have had 3 so far first one was shipped on the day it was available, it had focus, color and dust issues, the next 2 both had dust issues, not a couple of specks, after 500 shots there would be hundreds of specks in the photos. These started showing up at about f8.

I hope this recent price drop was used to clear the bad cameras out to people who just want snapshots, and that gong forward the problem will be fixed. I am going to be renting a 600 for a trip to Death Valley next month, the rental service says they have good ones in stock.

So I can understand why people complain and why they are p***ed off. When you spend 2 grand for something you eect it to work, at least I do.

Have a good day
Joe

I totally agree with Joe. When I read entries that reduce the D600 complaints as merely over exaggerated whining I can only conclude that these people are working for Nikon... Just kidding. The D600 issues are real. I have continued to monitor this issue because I would love to once again own the d600. My hope is that the new production line will be different.

Uncalled for my friend.

The comments I (and he) made we mild (very mild). And I stated the reason I didnt get the 800 was financial.

No one here blamed the very few "issues" for their photographic failures.

Where did THIS come from?

I am not sure that the focus issue was not blown out of proportion. I have not noted any issues of any kind - focus, green (which is not only an issue to the d800). Weak flash button - I haven't even heard that one before.

My belief is that there were some difficulties which seem to have been quietly addressed by Nikon - and they were exaggerated by mass hysteria.

I own the d600 and the spots are a real issue. I just revived my third d600. The first two were "defective" and were returned. The d600 is an excellent camera, one that I truly enjoy using but on the other hand it has issues with spots developing after being used. I feel Nikon should've caught and fixed this problem before selling to the general public. But Nikon didn't do this and the only reason I can think they didn't , the bottom line $$$. I hope my new camera is free of spots and Nikon has resolved this problem.
