I stayed in a condo in Oregon for $369 a week. Already have reservations in Orlando for another week at a special price of $329 for a week. They have units all over and the deals are fantastic. Worth looking into! Also I just sent off my application for my Washington State Parks Pass because I draw over 30% disability it is free for life! These are the kind of things that make you feel appreciated as a Vet!

A friend of mine uses the AFVC all the time and loves it.

We all served our Nation and that is our common bond.

All Veterans of all Eras both men and women tell us who you were with and where you served.

God Bless America and those who defend Her ,Past, Present and Future.

OK who's next?[/quote]

Thanks for this thread, nice idea.

I come from a military family from both sides mom, dad, step dad, both Grandfathers and the list goes on.
They served In WWI, WWII, Korea, Vietnam (x2).
They told stories to me of the men they grew up with that served in the Civil War.
My Dad was a True Green Bret he finished with a career that started with Korea and finished with 2 tours of Vietnam with The 82nd Airborne.
A bush Sgt. In his mid forty's.
He passed from his Nam wounds 10 years after being injured during his 2nd tour.
The day I buired him at Arlington National, I toured the wall and I knew his name should be on there.

Who am I:
Former Marine
Very early 70's (can u picture the time period).
5945 Air Radar. I & I
Enlisted with the thought of nothing less than 20.
The world had other plans for me.

I know from my family you have a true right to say anything you want. These men helped you have that right.
I also know I have a right to protect their honor when nessacary.
This site is for camera folks and not a place for me to vent about issues with some person that had a moment of lapse in manners.

Foremost a moment to those who servered and are gone now.
I miss very much the Men of the Great wars.
They understood a True American pride.
To me This link of a plaque says it all.

Thanks For the chance to post this.
I know it's only the person in uniform that will protect our future generations.

Went to a hanger talk at the Virginia Beach Aviation History Musieum last week and listened to a vet from the Tuskegee airmen. Nothing the rest of us went through can compare to what those guys went through. Here is a picture of a true american veteran

No room for hate on this thread, only the brotherhood and sisterhood of service .

No one counted you in if you didn't serve . If you did ,great. If not then why make a comment about what you hate? Who cares but you? All I was asking was for folks that did time in the military and wanted to let others who they were ,and what they did to make a post.

Are you including those who served or are serving in the US Military among the things you hate?

That would be quite a statement.

Bob the first thing I respectfully requested was too keep politics out of this thread. I am disappointed you could not find it with in yourself to do so . All statements like the one you you posted serve to do is inflame people. Take it to another thread where some one might want to duel with you . There are many who may just want to report out to others where served and what they. For most of us it was a very special and unique part of our lives.
I would ask others who may want to respond to Bobs comments to do so through a PM so we can keep this about what it was intend for and not a stump for political views.

Bob I respectful ask you PM me with what ever your issues are and we can discuss as you wish.

If this is going to turn into a pissing contest about the Gov.and the military.I'll just ask Admin to unplug plug it.

Enough said on that drill.

Still welcome more Vets to report out on their service.

This thread is about the military. Bob expressed an opposing POV that he apparently believes is true and honest to him, for him. The PO of this thread re-stated the mission of the thread. The PO also requested Bob to PM him. A PM is just that. A PM. PRIVATE. PRIVATE so the thread, our conversations and comments can be placed on track again.

However, Bob broke the trust that is inherrent in all PM's. How dare anyone publish that which was solely intended to be private. The severance of trust is what has caused friendships, marriages and other relationships to falter and die.

Bob's action to publish something of a private nature produces the same negative effects the military fights for. Bob's trust-breaking effort is no different than what has caused most socio-economic-political conflicts, known as WAR.

This all on the very first page! Let's all remember that what is stated in private MUST remain private.

I am a veteran who had 15 years in USAR/NG. I had very little
AD time. Went in from ROTC 1970 during a force reduction and as such a military career never took hold as planned in the MSC. MOS was 3506 (Med Admin. Officer). Did what I did and did it well, including a 2 year stint as a medical detachment commander (400 + enlisted personnel). Promoted to 0-3.
Even went to Canada for training purposes and only 20 years later discovered we had been hit with Agents White and Purple; Canada had covered it up. The Canadian government refuses any fault and compensation for neurological and respiratory problems. I can live with that.

The military provides beyond the basic skills for me and millions of other men and women to succeed outside the military. Commradderie (?sp), courage, fortitude, strength etc. are not buzz-words. They are a way-of-life.

One of the most important lessons after mission and commitment to others, I learned was a reward/punishment system second to none. for example, if someone submits a photograph at UHH that I find particularly effective, I will write and elucidate that in my reply.

However, if I find the photograph that was submitted for C and C is in need of resuscitation (if possible), I will PM that individual. My opinion and recommendations will be kept PRIVATE. One will only assume a PM is private unless that trust has been broken by either party.

I served in the US Navy 1969-1972 as a Gunners Mate. Did a tour in Nam as a twin .50 cal bow gunner on PBR's (Patrol Boats, River) '69-'70. My Unit was River Division 594, part of Task Force 116. Most of our ops were up along the Cambodian boarder. Finished up doing sea duty on The USS Ticonderoga, an old WWII vintage flat top. I made E-3 twice. Adherence to Military Discipline was not my strong points.

I found this somewhere. Maybe in Military Times magazine. But to me it says it all. "We shall never forget"
