I thought it would be of interest to the Veterans who are members of UHH to have a place to post what Service they were in , what there MOS (Mode Of Service) was ,and when and where they served. My guess is there are quite a few Veterans both young and "seasoned" that use the site.
Suggest we try to keep politics out of the thread. We all served our Nation and that is our common bond.

All Veterans of all Eras both men and women tell us who you were with and where you served.

I served in the US Navy 1969-1972 as a Gunners Mate. Did a tour in Nam as a twin .50 cal bow gunner on PBR's (Patrol Boats, River) '69-'70. My Unit was River Division 594, part of Task Force 116. Most of our ops were up along the Cambodian boarder. Finished up doing sea duty on The USS Ticonderoga, an old WWII vintage flat top. I made E-3 twice. Adherence to Military Discipline was not my strong points.

God Bless America and those who defend Her ,Past, Present and Future.

OK who's next?

Navy, 1967-71, Communications Technician (CTO). Southeast Asia tour mostly in Zambales, Luzon, Philippines. TAD Cam Rahn, not much John Wayne/Chuck Norris stuff. Took the test for E-2, flunked it. Second time eligible I was a short-timer and told them to stuff it.

Still have a soft spot for the Philippines.

Naval Air from '58/'62.. Radar crew member in the AEW (Airborne Early Warning) flying in Super Constellations that had the radar domes on top and under... Average flight was 12 hours long and the very longest was a tad over 22 hours when we did a hunt and search for a lost plane between Iceland and Greenland... Compiled over 4000 hours air time.... 10 hours from being discharged, JFK extended my Naval life because of the Cuban Chrisis, still, I Enjoyed the Navy Air life greatly...

I was drafted in December, 1968 but enlisted before my report date in order to get a delayed entry. Had to sign up for Artillery OCS to get it. Basic at Fort Leonard Wood, MO and AIT at Fort Sill, OK. Got orders for Infantry OCS instead of Arty. Told them "no thanks". Went to Vietnam as 13E20 (Fire Direction Control). Assigned to 2/11 Arty with 101st Airborne at Camp Eagle. Said they didn't need a 13E20 at that time. Found out I could TYPE! Became HQ Battery Clerk which probably kept me from getting my ass blown off (yes, I was a REMF). Went over an E-1 and left an E-5 (only good thing about the job I had). Did 13 months and a week to get "Early Out" on return to CONUS. Was given the nickname "Radar" (from MASH) after telling some of my Vietnam "clerking" stories. Only spent total of 19 months in Army.

No room for hate on this thread, only the brotherhood and sisterhood of service .

No one counted you in if you didn't serve . If you did ,great. If not then why make a comment about what you hate? Who cares but you? All I was asking was for folks that did time in the military and wanted to let others who they were ,and what they did to make a post.

Are you including those who served or are serving in the US Military among the things you hate?

That would be quite a statement.

Bob the first thing I respectfully requested was too keep politics out of this thread. I am disappointed you could not find it with in yourself to do so . All statements like the one you you posted serve to do is inflame people. Take it to another thread where some one might want to duel with you . There are many who may just want to report out to others where served and what they. For most of us it was a very special and unique part of our lives.
I would ask others who may want to respond to Bobs comments to do so through a PM so we can keep this about what it was intend for and not a stump for political views.

Bob I respectful ask you PM me with what ever your issues are and we can discuss as you wish.

If this is going to turn into a pissing contest about the Gov.and the military.I'll just ask Admin to unplug plug it.

Enough said on that drill.

Still welcome more Vets to report out on their service.

I want to show you why I hate the government & all things military. I asked to be left alone. Here is the PM I just got in response.

----------------------------------
Overly Hacked just sent me this PM.

"You have shown over and over again you are a cyber bully and in general apparently have more time on your hand than brains in your skull. . If you want to be a jerk and be bitter go for it. I have never been disrespectfully in any way,but your a coward that is clear. In a face to face conversation ,which we will never have, you would not have the balls to say to room full of Veterans you "Hate " the military. Why? Because some one would kick you ass who lost a friend in combat or has a son or daughter serving. In fact they would be lining up to do it.
You cant bully me little man . I have no fear of intimidation from a small minded , ego saturated blow hard such as your self. The world is full of people like you unfortunately. Self important and blind to all but their own small view of the world. The good news is you are in the minority and there are more decent folks around to help squash you like the bugs you are.

Here is a hot tip for you . There are many, many on this site who know you for what you are. Most either ignore you or PM each other about what a rude bore you have become. More were sorry to see you return than happy . Here is another news flash for you. As this great site continues to grow ,you will find that there are a huge number of folks who have much more extensive knowledge and expertise that you ,and your seat on your self created thrown will fade like one of your over blow "opinions". Others will mentor and guide with an understanding and open heart. Not with the rude abrupt manor you seem to want to bring to the site.

I will continue to be on this site and hope you block me as I have blocked you . I won't waste another second of the precious time alloted for my life having a sad, angry, small man like you even remotely involved it.

Fire away little man ,I won't hear ,read or see any of it.
Your just a side bar joke .

BTW UR A PITA

I will forward this to admin. my self.If they want me off the site so be it. But I you little man are the problem not me or the others who find you a rude obnoxious presence on this great site".

---------------------------------------------------------------

Let's take stock. He called me a cyber bully, a jerk, bitter, rude, little man small minded , ego saturated blow hard and obnoxious. Is this your brother, your comrade in arms that I'm supposed to hug & kiss? LOL All he's doing is proving my point. I think he has anger issues, don't you?

All I asked for is to be left alone. Is that a crime?

He wrote earlier, "Bob I respectful ask you PM me with what ever your issues are and we can discuss as you wish".

I think, considering his flaming attack on me, that might not have been a good idea. Well brothers, you deal with him.

bob this time i so disagree with you. You were wrong for posting the i hate the gov't and the military.. that comment was beneath you. If you are ex military and have a beef that would be one thing, but you should have id yourself as a vet. if not a vet why would you post this like a member of westboru bapbtist church. I am not a big fan of the federal government either, but got nothing but love for our military people. dad was in the army uncle was at anzio, schoolmates dad drove 2nd landing craft 2nd wave omaha beach. couldn't get in the navy (bad eyes) but served my country for 6 years as a cop.

Why would you post this? it's like walking into the annual naacp convention in a white robe and hood. You are better than this.

I'm not a big fan of the current military either, but coming onto a post were it's clearly stated "Veterans of the US Military post here" and voicing your options is asking for drama.

My father is a US Vet, I would never discuss how I think the military is broken with him, that would be a huge slap in his face. Sorry Bob...

I still don't agree with nasty PM's and name-calling. Doesn't matter what the subject is, that is just wrong. So I can't agree with Overly Hacked on his motives/direction on that.

Guess I’m just wishy-washy on this one, I think you were both in the wrong… must be my liberal ideals. ;)
