Tis the season for birds to nest and rear their young and many folks here enjoy birding with their camera. I don't have the skills, gear, or live in an area of rookeries so I must resort to drawing and painting them.

This is my attempt at creating a scene of an egret at home in a swampy area. I used a graphic painting program and a graphic display tablet with a stylus as the brush to create this as I have for the other posted sessions.

I've included progressive images to show the process of creating this work. The finishing touches were applied to the image to add detail highlights and to give it a bit of warmth.

Thanks, Curmudgeon. Of course, these pieces are not photographic; however, they are digitally produced and they are something that I enjoy doing to pass the time of day.

Thanks, Elliott. I'd like to be able to produce great images of the birds you do someday although my gear is more suited for bugs.

Thanks, Kpmac. There are plenty of egrets down your way so you get to see their beauty first hand.

True artistry! Is this composited or just one layer?
