I don’t blame you for wanting that camera in good working condition. I have a Zenit-E in good condition when I purchased it at Olden Cameras in NYC. I also have a Canon AE-1 from Raleigh Cameras in Brooklyn, NY. Both stores are gone but I remember the great times I had with my “babies.” They both have a special place.

You may wish to buy a clear acrylic box to display the camera on the shelf when you not using it.

Yes he is. He has worked on 6 Electro 35 models, a YashicaMat, Yashica D and A, Yashica 124G, several Lynx rangefinder models and a Yashica Mimy for me, and a few non-Yashica cameras.

He seems to be a really nice man, just from the brief conversation with him.

Absolutely, that's a great idea. You know, these new fancy high tech cameras are wonderful but just like old antique automobiles, they just don't build things like they use to, and the feel of that heavy, all metal camera is just great.

I don't have the first camera I bought back in 1977 any more. It was stolen from me in 1984. It was a Nikon F2AS.

Well, that's a shame. You should find another one maybe on eBay.

If I don't take inflation into account I would have to pay about the same money as when I bought it new to have one in decent shape. The AS version is one of the most expensive Nikon F2 version.

That's okay, it's only money and that's why you work. I can think of a hundred other ways you could spend your money that wouldn't bring near the satisfaction. I just spent over 2k on a Hasselblad that I didn't need and I'd do it all over again. My dear wise Mom once told me something when I was too young and dumb to understand. She said that she had attended a lot of funerals but she had never seen a Brinks truck following that hearse. Sounds like some pretty good advice now-a-days.

May be I just do that. I bought the Nikon F2AS thinking I would buy the MD-2 motor drive and the MB-1 battery pack for it. I never did as the price of the MD-2/MB-1 combo was more than the price of the F3HP and the MD-4 motor drive so I bought that instead. So just looked on Ebay from Japan I could get a Mint F2AS for $500 and the MD-2/MB-1 combo for $200. Plus $65 shipping for a total of $765 I can have my dream camera again.

Okay, thanks for the advice. I use a sekonic light meter anyway so I wouldn't use the in camera meter. Okay, well I will clean the ole girl up myself and stick a roll of film in a see what I get.

I have used Mark Hama to service several Yashica rangefinder and TLR cameras with excellent results. He is sometimes pretty slow in getting the service done, which may be due to his searching for or fabricating parts. It’s been awhile since I have used his services so Google him and give him a call or email him to see if he is still active. There is also Camera Service Pro in Atlanta ( https://www.cameraservicepro.com/) that services Yashica film cameras.

Mark Hama is the person to go to for Yashica's cameras repair. He fix my Yashica IC Lynx 14E.
