Perhaps because Obama left office eight years ago and is not running for president now. The world is a much different and more dangerous place today than it was eight years ago. Trump is the current leader of the Republican Party and is campaigning for the presidency now. I prefer leaders who are not "buddying up" to the anti-American creators of world chaos in today's world.

In both politics and business, it is common practice to "butter-up" the other guy with praise etc. even when you may think otherwise about the person.
If you don't make-nice after a while, you find yourself with no or very few people who will deal with you.

President Trump was/is an international businessman and then a politician, so he is used to doing that in both fields.

Most other politicians do the same thing though here in the US we are getting more and more who count on h**e and discontent to keep their base v****g for them.
I am old enough, I remember when almost all members of both parties at least put up a facade of being friendly while disagreeing on policy.
Of course, I am from Kentucky where being a border state our politicians when I was growing up mostly put on a "Good Ol' Boy" image with all the back slapping, glad handing and over done praise.
