Government sponsored gambling is a way to suck money from the poor, helping to keep them dependent as they dream of the "big win."
As an aside, when New York was soliciting support here for the lottery, the government's big selling point would be that the revenue would be only used for education, thus lowering school taxes. Need I say more. :-) :-) :lol:

That's a real losing proposition. The govt. takes about $200 million, leaving the winner with only $300 million. Spend a million a day for 300 days and then you're broke again.
