Super car and great set Tom, I could easily get in but not out!

Thanks, Sylvia. I feel the same way about getting in or out of any Ferrari I ever encountered.

Stay safe.

Hi, Howard.

I once bought a new Ferrari. It was a 1977 308 GTB...one of the later issues with a steel body. The early issue of that model were fiberglass. It was never my daily driver. Had it been, I would have gotten rid of it sooner than I did. Over three years, I put 17,000 miles on it. It wasn't a really fast car. Lots of Detroit iron would smoke in the 1/4 mile, and on the top end as well. I got it up to 130-135 mph a couple of times and it was all in at that point. It also had a rather annoying driving position, at least to me. When sitting in a normal driving position, the gas, clutch, and brake pedals were slightly offset to the right. Why did I keep it so long? Well, in all candor, it attracted chicks like it was a super magnet. It was, truthfully, A PW of major proportions...if you know what I mean.

Sounds like you really enjoyed the 308. Where was the event where you photographed car for the post.

This car represents a historic milestone in Ferrari's ascent to the top level of sports car racing. It is a 1949 166 MM Touring Barchetta. This one is the second one made out of 24 produced. These cars were the first ones made By Ferrari after he opened shop under his own name. Ferrari's don't come with a more authentic pedigree than this one.

It was raced, successfully, from 1949 to 1957 in important races such as the Mille Miglia. It was in the famous Harrah's collection from 1967 until it closed. Since then it has been in a private collection in the north east U.S.

I first posted some shots of this car a couple of years ago. I was happy to see it again and get these shots.

WOW!! I don't think I have ever seen this Ferrari before. I should have. The aerodynamics of this car look awesome. I think it would cut through the air like nothing. You did good. Keep posting. Thanks BE SAFE!!

Thanks for the visit. I've been trying to find out how many of the 24 166 MM Barchetta models remain.

I agree with that. It's actually a small car. The design, though, is beautifully proportioned.
