You do know that the meta info can be edited. Just as something across the photo.

Also, you say that public domain images are marked as so and if we use them we can get in trouble, another wrong.

If you are truly worried about photo theft, you must register your photo with the US copyright office. I know, I know, when you take a photo you automatically own the copyright, but try to prove it is yours. It is not easy and will cost tons of money.
