I loved so many of his songs. His song "I Wanna Talk About Me" was my introduction to country music. I was just station flipping when I came across it and was hooked. "Don't Let the Old Man In" (2019) always made me tear up. "Red Solo Cup" always made me smile and remember a day a few years ago when at a tiny riverside burger shack after kayaking, I ordered a gin and tonic. The girl who served me brought it in a red Solo cup, and I thought, Oh, great, an ounce of gin and a lot of tonic and ice. Nope. The gin was proportional to the size of the cup! John had to carry me back to the truck!
