This log cabin has an interesting history as told to me. We were driving around doing photography near Red Lodge Montana and met a local lady who took us here. She said a lady moved her family here after the great Chicago fire after she had lost everything including her husband and built this. Note the stream coming down the mountain right behind the house. If you have not been to the Beartooth area, put it on your bucket list. We spent 5 days driving the roads of The Big Sky Country in that area.

Not new but not as old as it looks. Here's a Jamestown village scene as it appeared to me in 2001. It was meant to look as I might have seen it if I'd been there in 1630. Everyone would have been dressed differently, of course.

Homey looking places

Seen on the road while "bridging" (def: traveling to photograph covered bridges). In the Hundred, WV, area circa 2007 and taken with a Kodak P&S. Upon revisiting this same area a few years later, this barn with the Mail Pouch advertisement was no longer standing, having succumbed to old age. RIP old fella.

I couldn't stop chewing until they stopped painting that sign all over 😒😒😒😉

I just couldn't resist this one. It is a "building," i.e., a house, sort of, and a real fixer-upper. Looks like it needs a new roof and that someone has tried to force entry at the front door. At least the foundation appears strong. Should have repairs soon or it might be on the ground in a few more years!

I suspect that that bird abused the alcohol that it derived from fermented berries

Joe, Always enjoy seeing you post pictures. And I have an affinity for older homes like the ones you have pictured.

Lee, I love old stuff - cars, equipment, houses, architecture, etc

Here are the oldest buildings in America I could come up with: cliff dwellings at Mesa Verde.

When I was a boy, this was the lumber yard in my home town. This pic was taken about 15 years ago, after the lumber yard had relocated, it had turned into and antique shop, and then been abandoned. A lot of memories for me here - us boys were always building something, and on a good day, the lumber yard gave away scraps!

Oddly picturesque ❤️❤️❤️

Five more from Missouri. The first one may not be standing any more.

Rufe, great photos! The sky in each photo really adds to the overall viewing pleasure. Now for the big question, did you luck out on each photo, did you wait it out to get the right sky or Heaven forbid, were the skies photoshopped in? Please not the last!

Excellent Jeez, Irv! What car? You did a tremendous job🤓🤓🤓

Look along the curb and you'll see an area with a lot of repetition and that doesn't look like the rest. AI doesn't usually do the repetition thing, so I missed it, which after drawing a circle and clicking Generative Fill, was my only job. :-|
