Amazing place! Thanks for the well-captured tour

Thank you very much Dave for your kind appreciation. Not spectacular mountain images like in your presentations, but this was a nice green park with plenty of water.

Our main reason for extending our "Eastern Alps Drive" down into Croatia was to revisit the Plitvice Lakes National Park. We explored this park for the first time in 1990 when we just passed through as a day-visitor. We subsequently felt that we needed more time in this magnificent park. It took us 33 years, but we finally made it again, this time staying overnight at one of the few hotels right in the park, which allowed us the proper time to do a number of the hikes along the lakes and waterways, mainly on footpaths and at times on raised boardwalks. We could and probably should have spent much more time here. It truly is a magical setting and I hope that you will enjoy the few images I present below. I will have a couple of more photos in the next set, when I combine 3 widely dispersed areas of Croatia, Slovenia and Austria into one post.

PLITVICE LAKES NATIONAL PARK - Excerpt of the opening statement of the UNESCO World Heritage Convention: "Croatia's largest national park covering almost 30,000 hectares (300 km² / 75,000 acres), is situated in the central part of the country. Within a beautiful karst landscape dominated by a mix of forests and meadows, the magnificent Plitvice lake system stands out, fascinating scientists and visitors alike. Interconnected by many waterfalls and watercourses above and below ground, the lakes are grouped into the upper and lower lakes."

Thank you Chief, this park really had a wonderful setting. Actually, my native tongue is Swiss German, French is my second language (or third, if you consider High German to be a separate language ....)

All are stunning images. The one preceding the map is especially wonderful--I don't usually see waterfalls from a bird's-eye view!

Thank you MFTVGirl for looking in on my mini-series and for your very kind words. Your comment made me thinking: yes, I rarely see waterfalls from a bird's-eye view, normally it is straight on or even from the bottom-up, though in Iceland I did capture a few falls from a higher vantage point. In the next set (#13) I actually have another picture from the same park, but a slightly different area, where the view is sort of down to the main falls and straight across to a slightly upper fall (picture #3)

Great images of beautiful scenery. I live in a dry semi arid zone in Central Australia where the dominant colours are reds, browns and straw colours interspersed with the dull green leaves of gum trees - so any scenery with water, lush green grasses and foliage like your lovely photos instantly attracts my attention. Thank you for sharing.

Thank you Richard for looking in on my mini-series and your kind comment. I well remember our trip in 1983 to Alice Springs, including of course the Ayers Rock/Uluru, as well as to the Olgas and Kings Canyon. Just as you are intrigued by the greens and blues here at this wonderful park and in Europe overall, we were just as intrigued with the reds, browns and straw colours in your homeland - and found them very fascinating. And I can say that most likely the greatest star-studded sky I have ever encountered in my life was on that night out very near to Uluru! Its a wonderful world, isn't it - again, thanks for looking in - I have presented and will continue to present more of these lush greens just today again and for a few more days, so if you have time, please look in on the tour again!

Thanks Mark, yes, the Plitvice Lakes NP is an extremely beautiful place, a real photographer's paradise. This and the Dolomite mountains were the nature highlights for us on this trip.

Thank you very much LeeK for visiting my developing mini-series, it is good to see you again and I appreciate your kind words and am glad to hear that you enjoyed this set - this visit at the Plitvice Lake NP, together with the visit to the Dolomite mountains in Italy, which I portrayed in set 10, were definitely the highlights of our trip as far as natural beauty were concerned.
