This set brings you an extensive view of a relaxing, "pastoral" corner in the very center of Switzerland. The canton of Zug was one of the earliest cantons to join in 1352 the Swiss confederation which was originally founded in 1291. The canton Zug is rather small in size, but a giant as a location for the headquarters of international companies in Switzerland. Zug is located on the shore of Lake Zug and has at its back an attractive hilly landscape culminating in the "Zugerberg", which, besides being mainly agricultural/pastural lands, also functions as a recreational area for the inhabitants of Zug and much of the surrounding area.

Even though I visit my native Switzerland very frequently, several times practically every year (except in those dark early Covid-years), I have to admit that this was the first time I visited the "Zugerberg" and the visit was mainly due to the desire of our son's family to do a nice day-hike (well, rather a terragood stroll) with our small grand daughter in this area, and the route was enhanced by a series of "hidden treasure" locations to be found by the child. We had a wonderful walk, and a nice lunch at a restaurant in the area, and the area provided a perfect backdrop for some rural photography.

The Zugerberg area accounts for the first 7 pictures, the last 3 were taken in close proximity to the town of Lenzburg where our son's family resides.

Thank you again, Ellen! I am glad you enjoyed these simple images mainly from that Zugerberg hilltop location, and I am also glad that our son and his wife led us to this place, it really was an ideal place to go for a few hours stroll - which ended up being quite a bit longer as we spent so much time on the way, and then had a lunch at the restaurant shown in image #6. Very interesting that I never even knew about that place, but that is Switzerland: a tiny country with so many beautiful corners that you can just drive right by and never realize they exist.

I am also particularly fond of image #9, this path leads up to a small hill on top of which there is a small church, and it is only about a 30 minutes walk away from the home of our son. We have walked this path quite a few times and in the right weather conditions there is a beautiful view from that small hilltop over the town of Lenzburg where our son lives and over to a similar hill on the other side of the town, where the famous, large castle of Lenzburg is located. So many beautiful places - and so much memories!

Thank you Eugene for your appreciative words. Funny enough, even though this is my home country, I was totally unaware of the Zugerberg location until we undertook this walk - it is great to discover new locations even in places that are basically very familiar to us!

Joe, these are absolutely beautiful. You are obviously not shooting "on the fly" as do most tourists!

Great shooting. Several years ago, some friends and I set up a trip to Switzerland for a watch-buying spree. Some business developments arose that precluded me from going along. I need another watch like another hole in the head but I sure wanted to visit Switzerland.
