I have a Canon Pro 100 which came with some paper but I'm now picking the brains of my UHH family for suggestions on some really good quality photo printing paper.

Start with the printer manufacturer's own branded photo papers. They are specifically formulated along with that manufacturer's inks to yield optimal results.

Once you have your workflow established (i.e.; you're getting results you expect), THEN look for third party papers that you like.

Just know that for THIRD PART PAPERS, you WILL need to download ICC profiles for YOUR PARTICULAR exact combination of printer, paper, and ink. The paper manufacturers and their vendors make these profiles and put them on their websites. You'll also have to install them in the correct place in your operating system for the color engine to work. That varies with the operating system, so consult the paper manufacturer's website for instructions.

Remember that for THIRD PARTY papers, you must TURN OFF printer color management, and then, IN YOUR APPLICATION SOFTWARE, select the proper profile for the paper you load. You may also need to tell your application to manage the color.

BRANDS include the popular:

Red River
Harman Ilford Galerie
Moab
Hahnemühle
Magic Inkjet
Lexjet
Sunset
Epson
Canon
HP
…and others.
There is a very wide array of "substrates" available for inkjet printing. PHOTO papers and FIBER (FIBRE) papers are just two of the many types. Canvas, polyester, polypropylene, Tyvek, transfer papers, and more are available. If you want a sense of the market, visit https://www.lexjet.com/media.

Never gad to custom colors. Colors are fine.
Had no margin on trailing paper edge. Not into changing software, I don't know enough and my color results aren't a problem.
I think I should be able to use this out of the box.
I bought Epson and red river paper, should get it tomorrow.
When I bought my truck I didn't go from showroom to service bay for a tune up
