No but Lee's pistol did accidentaly go off and shot a friend named Dial Lillywhite.
Lee handed his pistol to his mother to hold and something happened that shocked he and she pulled the trigger and shot Dial.
I have that pistol and holster and 2 first person writings of the incident.
If interested PM me.

Hi Architect, I can't help with your question, but commend you for your efforts to identify your images. I do, however, have a question for you. I thought the name Lilywhite was unusual so I researched it. I soon learned that while Lilywhite is fairly uncommon, if I added an "L" and made it "Lillywhite" it became much more common. Then I got to thinking about the name "Raffy" and this lead me to Raphael Lillywhite" who was born in or near Woodruff Arizona. He was named after the painter, Raphael. He went to the University of Utah. He married and at sometime moved with his wife to Walden, Colorado where he painted western ranch scenes. Then he settled in Laramine, Wyoming where he continued to paint western scenes. His wife died at Laramie and he passed away at Evanston, Wyoming. His wife was a Benko. I know that there is a spelling difference with Lilywhite and Lillywhite, but I wonder if that young fellow in your image was the later to be well known western artist, Raphael Lillywhite and if you are related to either him or his wife, Helen Ilka Benko Lillywhite. I talked with a friend who collects American artists of the twentieth century. He says that there is a Raphael Lillywhite being offered at auction now. The bid is up to around $800.00. He said that it was a very nice 16 by 20. Oil, I think. Anyway, I found it interesting.

Wow.
I believe that it could be Lillywhite.
It was hand written accounts of a great aunt and uncle that I got the spelling and for all I know they just misspelled it.
I have several more journals and will check on the spelling..
Thank you for the heads-up.
As I scan these hundreds of photos some have notations on the back and it could be an error of mine as well.
My father's mother's name is still being debated regarding spelling.
PS, Fay Wray is my father's cousin and it was a big event when she would come to Mesa, AZ to visit for family reunions. She is related through the famous Daniel W. Jones of "Forty Years Among the Indians" auto biography.

I found a story about Dial Lillywhite who is a brother of "Raffy" and it is clearly Lillywhite.
So I need to add an l to the photo.
The birth location is plausible. I only have the genealogy of direct relatives though and not friends, sadly.
Again thank you for the heads up on the spelling. I will change it. As I said before I get family help on spellings and names. Sadly most have died and I am depending upon grand children's memories or if a journal can be found. I have a file cabinet full of short stories and journals. I have not read them all lately but as I scan I pull them out for help.

Great. I bet it is the same fellow; I can't believe there would that many people around with that name. I know that I like his art. I was not familar with Daniel Webster Jones, but am glad to learn about him. It is interesting how one thing leads to another. Thank you for your reply.

Photo corrected.
Thank you again so very much.
I hate to perpetuate a wrong spelling for future generations.

I did a quick search and his sister Ina lived in Morelos, Mexico as a young woman so I will guess Raffy lived there and his Brother Dyle was the young man that my great grandmother shot with my grandfather's pistol.
See attached story and photo.
Raphael was named after a famous artist, I am not sure if he was an artist.
I added a bit of information on this family and photos.
From the internet:

Raphael Lillywhite was born in Woodruff, Arizona, in 1891. He was one of 15 children in a Mormon family that operated a trading post along the Little Colorado River and was named Raphael for the famous artist.

I hope this is not boring you but I doubt anyone but us is following this thread.

I find it all fascinating. I don't have any LDS in my direct line but have many many distant cousins on collateral lines. I don't recall any Hubers but I'll be checking. You, no doubt, have done enough geneaolgy to know that you can expect to discover the unexpected. Thanks again.

Huber is recently in the new world from Switzerland then Mexico then USA and until last half of 20th century actually started spreading out of AZ.
I am not related to most Hubers in the USA.

I still say you are fortunate to have access to those historical photos, and add to that the written records.

That story about Etta's unintended pistol discharge gave me a bit of heebie geebies, as it brought back to mind a time five or six friends and I were out doing some target shooting.

Absolutely no alcohol nor drugs were even remotely involved. Just a moment of inattentive negligence that sent a bullet whizzing right past my head...fired from about four feet away.

The older teen girl who did the negligent discharge did not go into a lfetime of depression, fortunately, but I have no doubt she would have if I'd been hit. She was very, very shaken up for a couple or three days, as it was.
