I got this photo of my grandfather, sitting on right, taken in Mexico where he grew up.
My cousin didn't do too well copying it.
For those who have developed amazing skills with PS is there a way to remove the reflection of light in the bottom corner?
I tried with PSE but I can't fix it.
PS the revolver he is holding I got from my father.
Thx

The image looks amazingly clear, in good condition. You'd be better served just getting a new copy of the original, rather than fixing this failure.

Easier said than done.
They do not part with things easily.
Actually they took it away from me with other things, not
maliciously, but just a personality trait, even when a promise of returning it.
If it can't be fixed then , Oh Well.
Thx.

I use PSE 2022. I think you can improve it, but it will be tedious work. I think that by working in small increments, you can use content aware fill to get rid of the reflection over the floor, Then magnify the portion of the reflection over the person, and carefully clone it out. It won't be perfect, but it will be better.

Thx, I doubt I would have the skill for that.
Dexterity is a skill I lack after having both arms severely damaged.
I couldn't even hold a pencil at one time and nerves are still damaged with little sensation in the hands.
But that is an excellent suggestion.
I will see if for me that is possible.
Thank you for the suggestion, greatly appreciated.

I am sorry you have that trouble, but it doesn't seem to affect your photography, which is excellent. I enjoy your posts.

Whatever you do, work on a duplicate layer. You might also try the burn tool where the reflection covers dark areas, like the trousers on the man on the left.

Thank you on both points.
I will try.

There is some new (at least to me) AI detailing/enhancement software that might be able to make this look better in the out-of-focus corner. One that is gaining in popularity is "Magnific" https://magnific.ai/ I haven't tried it as I find all these AI generators to be too complicated, and most need paid subscriptions, (this one is very expensive) so I just fixed the color and took out some of the spots. I can't sharpen any more than this without making it look worse. It's a great old photo, though, so I would continue your efforts to get a good copy.

I agree with the UHH'r below who suggests using PSE-22. I have used its copy/paste technique on old photos on several old prints.

I gave it a try. Perhaps this will meet your need.

Your grandfather looks like a devilish fun loving dude. Did you inherit any of those traits.

Just in case you don't get another shot of the original, another for you to consider.

Thanks, Bill. There is only so far I can go with something like this. The glare and the color cast is easy, but trying to sharpen selectively without sharpening noise is tough, and nothing can refocus an out-of-focus image. AI can re-draw the area, but then it's not a restoration, it's a recreation.
