All true but the old edits if valuable may lost as they are in the LR catalog or sidecar .xmp file. Does elements support xmp files? If not your edits will be lost.

Providing you have not deleted LRC Catalog, you can export a photo to Elements with the edits.

It is easy, I did it for thousands of photos. Lightroom does it in the background for the full catalog once the setting is changed.

Nice. (I don't use Lightroom.)

Elements does not use your Lightroom catalog at all. If it isn't removed when you uninstall Lightroom you can just delete it since it would no longer be needed. You would not lose your pictures when you delete the catalog because your pictures aren't stored in the catalog.

Bad idea if he wants to keep his edits. All edits are stored in the Lightroom catalog.

Another reason why I simply use File Explorer as my "cataloger".
Plus, I don't have to work with a cataloger in multiple editors.

It sounds like you want to stop using LrC. If that is the case, the only thing you need to do is to stop using LrC and switch to Elements. The LRC Catalog will be irrelevant. You can archive it (in case you want to go back). It doesn't need to be preserved in working storage although I always consider it worthwhile to preserve history in case you need it.

As far as XMP files are concerned your LrC edits are contained in the LRC Catalog AND the XMP files. It never hurts to have another copy. Storage is cheap. The edits in the XMP files can be used by other Adobe programs if you have any. And if you need to reconstruct a LrC you can use the XMP files to restore the edits.

No cross-over between catalogs. Each has its own.

No you don't. When you stop the subscription, you still get to keep the catalog with all that is stored in it. The Library module in Lightroom Classic will continue to function.

Direct quote from Adobe: "You can continue to access all your photos on your local hard drive through Lightroom for the desktop. You can continue to import and organize photos and output your edited photos through Export, Publish, Print, Web, or Slideshow. Access to the Develop & Map modules and Lightroom for mobile is not available after your membership ends."

You get to keep your catalog and the edits stored within when you cancel.

I use elements, and I think that Elements+ for $12 is absolutely essential.
The program that I use on Elements most, however, the Tony Kuyper luminosity masks. They are free for Elements.

My comment pertained to the suggestion that the OP "delete" the catalog.

I don't know if the catalogs are compatible between the two programs, I'll guess not.
You'll probably have to build a new catalog in Elements.
But your pictures themselves do not exist IN THE CATALOG.
They exist in directories on your drive where you put them.
The catalog is simply a <database> LIST of your images that editors use.
The cataloger goes and makes a list of what files are in what directory on the drive.

Adobe PSE like Ps does not use a database Catalog. It uses you actual files. Best to shoot Raws or create Duplicate Camera JPGs to edit with Adobe PSE. If you are super picky or concerned with getting back to the RAW files that came from your camera, make DNG copies of your RAW or Camera JPG to work with. As stated by others Lr and PSE are completely different programs.

My guess is if you want to use your Lr edited images you will have to Export Copies as I describe above. You already have the original unedited image files on your computer. Don't delete your Catalog or remove the Lr program until you have all your photos going the way you want with PSE.
Personally I am a fan of Full Ps able to process every thing as 16-bit files and not limited to 8-bit like PSE. Have fun.

About half of what separates a successful photographer from their peers is PhotoShop. The other half is Lightroom.
