Collaboration is the way of progress.
Don, your first crop was an excellent example of how a little change makes a big difference. Additiona cropping, as suggested by magnetoman was interesting enough to me to try a bit.
I wonder if you considered softening the entire photo? If able to go back to original and not sharpen, that would probably be better; however, here is your last edit with the Topaz Studio 2 Dream Cloud filter at 50 percent opacity & a tiny more crop.

Well, I'm glad I started coming around here lately. I miss those conversations! And the article concerning creativity and mental disturbances, well I almost identified with it in parts, but I'm sure the creativity in all of us here comes roaring in front of all of us a bit! I suspect most of us can at least identify with it. Personally, I myself don't get into the technical details so much...if it suits me as is, then I just let it go. I'm also not too sure if what I said made too much sense, but so what, right?
veralisa and Linda, sorry I missed your voices.
veralisa, good point on the mental state of artistic people:
To be a mental disturbance requires that one, a so-called victim, be disturbed by the multiple personality skills voices in the background.. as in "Takes two to Tango", the disturber, and the disturbee. If one is aware of multi-voices suggesting how to solve problems or create then we are ahead of most. Creativity in art is at times a mysterious path... how did I arrive at the finished product? I can come up with a plausible story, but the reality is the idea just came from the inner-voice. In chemistry/physics grad-school, I spent time in the art building. Overheard explaining a work of art to two young ladies, the young professor of art walked over and chatted with me and invited me to audit his figure drawing class. Science earned me a living instead of being a starving artist, art has always been part of my life
Photoshop history steps recording may be helpful by recording how one gets-there. Watching webinars on Topaz products the so-called expert wandered around and did not pre-analyze nor plan ahead which tool and how to use it. Not a good way to teach or sell.
"Us Guys" played productive what-if ping-pong. I am glad you and Linda joined in although later on page 2... critiques are welcome and a productive learning experience.

Gee, I wish I could understand what you mean.

When doing competition photography in the TBCClub the next month's image was on the cabinet over my Coffee Espresso. While Mr. Coffee was doing is squirting and steam belching my eye would see image errors that were not obvious the previous day. When writing tech reports decades ago I would wait a month before submitting them, time passes and the image or words become less mine.
With the passage of time, I can critique my own as though generated by someone else.
In the above image, there is an excess bottom. The image cropped below the fingers about the same space as ear-to the-border is better. Then some color differences must be cleaned.
Simple rule, that which does not add detracts from the image's appearance.
Critiques and suggestions welcome:

I like the image with the crop. That said, they are both wonderful images and I just love your inventive and imaginative nature. It comes through in your work and is a delight.
