Eat an English meal and you will know they have a sense of humor.

Monty Python. I still smile when I think of Faulty Towers. I wish someone would run it again.

No Prairie Seasons, old pal, we Brits don't have an English sense of humor - if only because it's an English sense of humoUr !! Actually I think calling it an ENGLISH sense of humour is a bit off target. It's a British sense of humour. And our meals are much better than they used to be, believe me !!!

And we remain two countries divided by a common language.

I stayed at the Grovesnor House a couple of years ago - it took until the end of a week before I could pronounce the name sufficiently that the cabbies wouldn't laugh and correct me.

The food has improved, but I still can't fancy a warm beer.

Good on yer PrairieSeasons.

But it is probably true to say that the only parts of the UK where you will be served warm beer are London and the South East of England generally. In the rest of the country we like to have beer cellar-cool (and that can be quite cold - say semi chilled ) and lager type beers should be chilled - but not too chilled. There is nothing in the world quite so bad as warm, flat lager no matter which country you drink it in.
