We were on the ground letting them come to us. As they got closer and close it was awesome! This is one I will never forget! She brought her baby over to see me. She stopped maybe 25 feet away. I stopped taking photos and began to wonder just how close she was coming!

YES, that would be unforgettable ! 8-)

That must have been an amazing experience. I suspect she did not consider you much of a threat. Was the opposite true too? Do elephant cows get along with people?

Describe the mono elephant shot if you don't mind.

That is Craig one of the largest tuskers. He is relate to Tim who was bigger but died in 2020. We had a Masai guide who took us to Tim. He was not in the Amboseli park, but just outside on private land. Because we had a local with us we were able to spend some time with him. He is known to be a gentle elephant not minding the people who take his photo. We were able to get out of the vehicle and sit on the ground to get the lower perspective. He is a really magnificent elephant to see up close. Hope that is what you were asking! Oh, this was last year during the drought so lots of dust and unfortunately not much for them to eat.

Well as always any wild animal can be upset and defend themselves or babies. In this case she was just curious. I will say that this is the first time I was beginning to wonder if I had screwed up and she was going to come and step on me! Ears forward is both aggression and or curiosity. My Masai guide was behind me and quietly said just donโ€™t move. Well, I didnโ€™t! After what seemed like a long time, but wasnโ€™t really she just turned and followed all the others that had already passed. I would not approach an elephant and get this close on foot. We were right by the vehicle and the group of 15 or so walked towards us (we had driven ahead to position ourselves for them to walk towards us) usually they walk towards you then just angle off and go on by. This mom and baby just kept coming straight to us. Hope this answers your question!
