Different but enjoyable.

Glad you enjoyed it. I love the original version but this was somewhat fascinating to me.

Absolutely. Quite different to say the least.

I liked the "guitar" voicing at the end. Nothing there I would buy (on say a CD). Not "organic" enough for me. Greensleeves is a great tune.

This was my introduction to Greensleeves as a teenager long ago, Greensleeves By Jeff Beck (1968)

Like you, I would not buy this version. It's one of my favorite songs. I love the Jeff Beck guitar version so much better. It's BEAUTIFUL.

"Original"? Which version is that?

I found: "'Greensleeves' is a traditional English folk song. A broadside ballad by the name "A Newe Northen Dittye of ye Ladye Greene Sleves" was registered by Richard Jones at the London Stationers' Company in September 1580, and the tune is found in several late 16th-century and early 17th-century sources, such as Ballet's MS Lute Book and Het Luitboek van Thysius, as well as various manuscripts preserved in the Seeley Historical Library in the University of Cambridge."
"Original"? Which version is that? br... (show quote)

To me original means the way it was written, but I still find this version a bit fascinating. Still, if I bought one it would be the old version.

I love the old versions best also. To me, the difference is that I could listen to one like this all day, the different one not so much.
