I think what Chis and Jordan said is about right. The Panasonic is a little better if you do video. The Olympus doesn't do video as well. I have and enjoy a Panasonic GX8 with a Panasonic 100-400. I would like to update to the G9II for better autofocus, but probably won't spend the money.

I think all of the responses are going to be determined by whether video or stills are the priority.

My wife had the OM-1 and shot it for a year with me in Florida's wetlands. I would say the only advantage that camera had over my Sony was the fact that it could shoot "pre-capture". Nikon z9 and z8 both can shoot "pre-capture", I am hoping soon that Sony will offer this on their new camera's coming out this year.
I found the camera too small for my hands, and the levers and buttons were not in the right places for me.
And personally, I prefer full frame camera's for that extra wide feeling and the fact that I have a larger image to work with in RAW especially when working in post.
These are personal preferences, my wife now shoots Sony. Again, hoping Sony catches up and offers "pre-capture" on their new camera's.
Good luck and keep on shooting until the end.

Don'tknow--never shot a Panasonic, but love my two OM-1s.

I keep a 12-100 f/4 on one and a 150-400 f/4.5 on the other. Have a few other lenses, but I almost never use them.

Would love a full frame the same size, weight and cost as my OM systems, but physics.

Shot Nikon for years, but love the m43 form factor, superior weather sealing, best IBIS, and techie features.

YMMV.

I’ve not used the Pany but would certainly do so! I’ve held them and certainly like their menu systems compared to my OMD Em1 2&3. What you will find is that most (many) micro 43 users are not married to their gear, understand the limitations of their gear, appreciate the improvement in both Pany and Oly (and all systems generally) and can actually have a dialogue about it without rancor. It’s a pretty technically inclined crowd.

I think Burk will weigh in on this. Pany is generally better for video. Oly is a bit better for the still stuff. I think for the average Joe/Jane it doesn’t make a lot of difference. What is great is that someone like me can have a bevy of Oly lenses and purchase a Pany to start video productions surrounding a certain little rambunctious boy!

I can say that I also have the Pany 100-400 lens. It is a good lens with excellent sharpness but the build quality is nowhere near the Oly pro lenses.

The M43 world is fun for sure. Which is what it’s all about.

I am almost in your camp. That 150-500 is pretty big and expensive. It could be grounds for a divorce or maybe justifiable homicide in our house if the Mrs. were to walk in and see that! I don’t think any jury would convict! So I have a 100-400. On safari I carried two bodies. One with the 12-100 and 100-400 so I had 24-800 covered! A perfect system for my purposes.

I think the 4/3rds cameras of the future are going to be the best. And it does not really matter which one is better. I will just buy the 4/3rds body that I want to use with my 4/3rds lens - no matter what the brand. One is not necessarily locked into a brand with 4/3rds. Yes, not all special functions will cross between brands. But all basic functions do operate between all brands. No special adapters needed.

What I think is more interesting are the new lenses coming out for full frame cameras. The full frame market is trying to emulate the smaller, lighter, and less costly lenses of the 4/3rds market. The full frame market can and are getting closer to 4/3rds lenses but will not be able to match them until they change their sensor size to 4/3rds. Still makes for an interesting situation.
