Blue one appeals to me, but it seems too much is going on. What did the original look like?

The blue one is the result of my first step in post processing. See attached original. The next step was to produce a negative of this image and A is the result.

Mike, they are cacti. I just posted the original to daninr8. The C image is the converted to B/W. My daughter like B/W especially if it's an Ansel Adams.

I enjoy taking an image that I find interesting for various reasons and playing with it in post just to see what emerges. The following three images are examples of this. Which one's appeal to you? Be interested in hearing which and why.

I like all three. I have played with similar digital filters myself. Yours give a simplified rendition. I have photographed Cacti over the last 45 years so many times that straight images are becoming boring to me. Keep playing and experimenting. Abstractions are often fine art!

P.S. You might enjoy some of UHH'er Bob Yankle 's abstract images. He also shoots Dog and Cat Show Portraits. You'll have to search for more but here is one of his abstract images https://www.uglyhedgehog.com/t-756427-1.html

Or if you can, look through his FaceBook Photos. https://www.facebook.com/bob.yankle/photos_by

Thanks for looking in and your insightful comments. I've been playing with images for years. I've done similar things with cactus in the past and made this image specifically so I could try this techniqe again. One of the issues I have is that I'll work with an image and end up with something I really like but then discover that I can't repeat it because of the number and complexity of the steps that I took. This method is simple enough that I can play with it often.

I have seen Bob's work and have commented on them too. He does a great job with them.

What are they? I'm not sure but the look like cacti to me. I like the in your face red one. You should post this one in the Photo Critique Section too.

If you're reading this, Jack, you already know that they are cactus and how I got there. After I inverted the original image and it came out blue, my next step was to play with the hue to see what developed. I got a purple image that I liked but pushed it a little further to end up with this "in-your-face" (like that term) red.

I'm glad you liked them and took the time to comment. Can I repost this in Photo Critique as well. Didn't think you could post items twice.

They sort of remind me of owl eyes, and it's red for me.

Thanks for looking in Dan. I don't think an owl would like eyes like this but you never know. Sure would be intimidating. If you're reading this to this point, you know they're cactus. Appreciate you comments.

Thanks for looking in and commenting. Close but no cigar. They're cactus as they might be in my mind's eye.

As you know, Reuss, I like to mess around in PP work myself. I'm usually driven by colors. For that reason, I'm not attracted to the B&W version.

The red and the blue are both attractive to me....kind of a mood situation. Do them both on metal and let your daughter display the one that best reflects her feelings that day.

In general, I stay away from mixing symmetrical and asymmetrical elements. But, of course, that's just my opinion. Others, I'm sure, will feel differently about that.

Always interested in your opinion Tom because I know that you like to play too. I like your suggestion about giving my daughter both images. I look forward your abstracts because they are different than most others. Wouldn't it be fun if everybody did the same things. But you've got to keep doing these types of things or you might get "rusty".

I like the blue one. It's amazing how this was produced just by inverting the colors. Nice work!

I'm glad you like them. It's a warm fuzzy when others appreciate what you do. I've been playing with the inversion feature and sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. Thanks for looking in. The blue one is my fav too but I couldn't stop there.

As far as I know you can post as many places as you like although I have never posted more than two places.
