I called 1-800-645-6687 for Nikon custom support and they were very nice and worked with me for forty five minutes trying to find an answer at no charge and there isn't one for locking the focus point on my Nikon Z6ii camera. There is also no way to disable the toggle switch. There is several options that the center button of the toggle switch can be programed to do but lock the focus point is not one of the options. It would be great if they would add this choice to the menu in the next software update. I am posting this in a new post so everyone will get a chance to read it since nobody seems to read additional posts in my original thread. Thank everyone for trying to help me!

Glad you got an answer.

Curious -- Is the number you called (above) the same number you used prior where the guy wanted to charge you?
If not, did you maybe Google the "bad" number to see what it comes up as?

Thank you for clarify the fact that Nikon doesn't charge for support. Now can you tell us which number did you call that wanted to charge you and how did you get that number? It's obviously a scam and I think other would like to know to avoid that.

I wish I could tell you what the number was that I called and where I found it but I erased my calls while I was talking to actual Nikon customer service so I wouldn't accidentally call that number again.

You will periodically find online a "Nikon technician" that will offer an answer for everything Nikon. Those "technicians" will charge. Just keep your eyes open and if advice is needed ALWAYS call Nikon USA.

The best way to avoid all the scam support folks is to go, on the web, to the official site for the product and call the number you get there. Don't just google "XYZ support" and dial a number that shows up.

You should delete your original post that was very unfair, not true and misleading toward Nikon. I wish folks would do more research here before damning a company with incorrect information.
Thank you.

I wouldn't know how to delete a thread that I already started.

A request by the OP to Admin will usually do it. I had to do it a few years ago when a post turned into folks "piling on" one of our members.

Yeah, when I read your post it sounded odd, since I have called Nikon customer service (and emailed them) and have never been charged. Nikon has been putting out incremental firmware updates for the earlier Zs, so hopefully your issue will be addressed. A quick search in Google does show others have similar concerns.

It’s not possible to delete a thread. You can’t even delete a comment. But I’m glad to see he took the time to come back and post this, since many people don’t read the entire thread.
