Not a problem with mirrorless.

You don't like the news so go away.
You gush over a Nikon firmware update but bash Canon for some truly innovative lenses.
Your bitterness Nikon fanboy shows through loud and strong so go play with your Nikon.

It doesn't take long for angry fat cells to express themselves.
Why are they angry? Because they are the repository for all the toxins that are consumed.

With the new mirrorless Canon cameras f9 is not an issue.
It is ONLY 1/3 stop from f8.
Ps,f6.3 to f9 is only 1 stop.

Thank you. I think some have spoken about using the new lenses on their dslr by using adapters, particularly some of the Nikon Z-lenses. Some have no desire to manually focus anything!

All your EF and EF-S lenses will work just fine on the R series cameras.
The AF failures are endemic with Nikon and the FTZ adapter weakness.
That is why Canon has f11 primes that AF just fine.
So the f9 aperture is baked in to AF working on the R series cameras with no issues.

[quote=billnikon]Very nice for Canon. Should make great competition against the Nikon 180-600 5.6-6.3. Interesting in the fact that the Nikon and Sony 200-600 have an internal zoom and the Canon lens extends as it zooms. Wonder what the balance would be on the Canon once it is fully extended. And at 800 f9 you better have a lot of light.
But again, love the competition among the big three.
And with Nikon's 600 6.3 and 800 6.3 primes, you won't necessarily break the bank buying a long prime. Does Canon have any competition here with these two less expensive primes? No? Oh, that's right, Canon does have a 800 prime at f11 compared to 6.3 for the Nikon. But in honesty the Nikon is 6 times the cost of the Canon, $999.00 compared to nearly $6500.00 for the Nikon. Which makes the Canon a bargain for the price, and nice sharpness too. You have to wait till noon to shoot it outside though, but still, nice product for the price.
At this point, I will continue to use my Sony 200-600 and 600 f4 for my wildlife shooting.
Again, that Canon has a really close focusing distance of 2.6', you could call that a mega macro. Way to go Canon, hope you catch up to Sony and Nikon at some point.
PS. it also appears on the Canon that you have a full 1/2 turn of the zoom collar to go from 200-800, on the Nikon and Sony it is a 1/4 turn, that could be a problem with hand holding and trying to go from 200-800 all the while trying to keep on a moving subject. Oh well, looks like a fine lens anyway and should be a

I've been remiss is seeking much information on equipment changes due to not wishing to pursue new technology. My hands are getting worse with almost no feeling in my shutter-release index finger. I try to keep moving so no one throws dirt on me!

Still hiking though!

Well, the lens is made for their mirrorless mount. It won’t work on a DSLR.

Who cares Nikon fanboy.
Jealous of the amazing new lenses from Canon.
Go back and play in the Nikon fanboy sand box and leave this post to those interested in amazing lenses that Nikon can't provide.

There are no adapters to use mirrorless lenses on DSLR’s. Only the other way around.
