Three new lenses have been introduced today.
1. RF-S 10-18mm f4.5-6.3 STM
2. RF 24-105mm f2.8 L IS USM
3. RF 200-800mm f6..3-9 IS USM

The 24-105mm looks like a good replacement for the short range 24-70mm lenses with the longer 105 mm and still f2.8.
It also has a fully manual aperture ring.

The 200-800mm should be great for those needing reach but can't afford the 5 figure 600mm or 800mm lenses and you get full compatibility with the TCs. At $1,900 a great deal.
PS it, like several other Canon lenses uses diffractive lens to help with size and weight. They just don't put it all over the lens.

Very nice for Canon. Should make great competition against the Nikon 180-600 5.6-6.3. Interesting in the fact that the Nikon and Sony 200-600 have an internal zoom and the Canon lens extends as it zooms. Wonder what the balance would be on the Canon once it is fully extended. And at 800 f9 you better have a lot of light.
But again, love the competition among the big three.
And with Nikon's 600 6.3 and 800 6.3 primes, you won't necessarily break the bank buying a long prime. Does Canon have any competition here with these two less expensive primes? No? Oh, that's right, Canon does have a 800 prime at f11 compared to 6.3 for the Nikon. But in honesty the Nikon is 6 times the cost of the Canon, $999.00 compared to nearly $6500.00 for the Nikon. Which makes the Canon a bargain for the price, and nice sharpness too. You have to wait till noon to shoot it outside though, but still, nice product for the price.
At this point, I will continue to use my Sony 200-600 and 600 f4 for my wildlife shooting.
Again, that Canon has a really close focusing distance of 2.6', you could call that a mega macro. Way to go Canon, hope you catch up to Sony and Nikon at some point.
PS. it also appears on the Canon that you have a full 1/2 turn of the zoom collar to go from 200-800, on the Nikon and Sony it is a 1/4 turn, that could be a problem with hand holding and trying to go from 200-800 all the while trying to keep on a moving subject. Oh well, looks like a fine lens anyway and should be a fine niche lens for Canon.

The price point is to give financially less fortunate/ or one who do not feel the higher quality/price lenses are worth it a chance to get in & well, for Canon??? Seems all brands are giving more choices as the time rolls on.

Even at $1900.00 this lens may not be in the ball park for the financially less fortunate. Usually the less financially fortunate have a budget around $500.00 tops.

F9 is only 1 stop different and you are at 800mm not 600mm which on the Canon lens is about the same as the Nikon at 600mm.
Zooming out is no balance issue for the lens as it is for hiking and hand holding.
Compactness makes a superb choice for those activities.
So it is a huge win for those needing 800mm but want a portable lens.

And the much shorter Nikon 180-600mm is still $1,700 way out of your $500 limit.
Even the Tamron 150-600mm much shorter lens is $1,400 still way above your $500 limit.

You are such a Canon fan boy. Congratulations.
I case you did not notice, I was very complementary on the new lens. And not everyone has $1900.00 to spend on a lens.

The 24-105mm f2.8 now completes a new trinity standard of fast lenses.
15-35mm, 24-105mm and 100-300mm all fast f2.8 lenses for those needing more versatility.

Judging by the reaction on Canon rumors, the 24-105 will be a big hit.

The 200-800 will also be a big seller. It should now be obvious why Canon did not want Tamron or others front running this lens with their 150-600s.

Wait a couple of years and prices will be lower too!

You don't like the news so go away.
You gush over a Nikon firmware update but bash Canon for some truly innovative lenses.
Your bitterness Nikon fanboy shows through loud and strong so go play with your Nikon.

Bold choices for Canon. I'm intrigued by the 24-105mm f/2.8 -- a lens that combines my Sony 24-70mm f/2.8GM and 24-105mm f/4G -- but I wonder how much the thing will weigh. Probably too heavy to be practical as a walk-around lens, but I like the range and the faster max aperture. I much prefer my 24-105mm except for dim indoor scenes, and in those I don't need 105mm anyway, so although this sounds cool I don't know if it's really worth it.

And $1900 for a 200-800mm zoom? Bet it has questionable IQ for such a relatively low price. Still, 800mm is something.

As for the 10-18mm, meh.

The 24-105mm apparently has a power zoom accessory for cinema lenses to go along with the manual aperture ring.
So it appears that this is intended for professionals doing weddings, video, and other pro level work where the 24-70mm is more limiting.

Gordon Laing first reviews:
200-800mm f6.3-9

Gordon Laing's review has a chart which shows what many want to know about the Canon 200-800mm f6.3-9 lens, what max apertures at what focal lengths? : At 268mm the lens goes to f7.1; at 455mm the lens goes to f8; at 637mm to 800mm the lens is at f9.

You do sacrifice some wider max aperture vs the Nikon 180-600mm f5.6-6.3 and the Sony 200-600mm f5.6-6.3, but get more length to 800mm with the Canon lens.

24-105mm f2.8 Z

Cheers and best to you.
