Nope. Works like a charm. Exceptional features such as excellent masking, the new point color feature, integration across mobile and desktop machines. Just spend some time with it and it will all come together and make sense.

May have the problem solved: for some reason, Adobe loaded Lightroom into my computer during the upgrade instead of Lightroom Classic. I'm working with Adobe to install LCR, but it is like watching paint dry. This may have accounted for the crashes and failure to recognize files. We will see shortly!

Problem solved! Creative Cloud indicated that there was an upgrade to LRC, and I clicked the dialog box. For some strange reason Adobe downloaded Lightroom, changed the name to LRC, and left me a mess. Adobe helped uninstall whatever was installed, and reinstall LRC, and all is well, the sun will come up tomorrow, the birds will sing, and I'm a happy camper. Thanks for all of your suggestions as I can sleep soundly tonight!

I have noticed a problem with some old files. The masking tools come in two versions (both under the masking button in the develop module). The first 4 use AI to produce a mask (sky, subject, background, and object). The rest work the way they used to (gradients and brush -- I haven't done much with the range mask yet). I was using the subject and background masking a lot with old files until I got back to about 2012. They work back to that point but earlier files are spotty. Some of them don't work with the AI masking and some do. Some of them work with Photoshop but I haven't tried a lot of them that way and the masks seems to be a bit different in PS.

I use LrC, not Lr. Most recent update (about 2 days ago).

I found a solution to my problem. The original files don't play well with the AI-selected masking but if I run the image through Topaz Photo AI or Topaz Sharpen it generates a tif for Topaz to work on and returns a tif to LR. The masking works just fine on the tif. I suspect (but haven't tried) that if I generate a tif or some other format and import that as a separate image the masking will probably work even if the new image doesn't have any editing changes. I have left this as an exercise for the reader. Be so kind as to report back.

I upgraded to the current iteration of Light Room, and it is completely foreign from previous editions. Maybe I'm
old fashioned and reluctant to change, but I find the new format to be unworkable, it doesn't recognize a lot of my files, and every thing has changed. If this is the future for Light Room, they have lost me and I'll migrate to another post processing application. Does anyone else had the same problem?

How foreign or better yet how far back a release were you coming from???

Thanks and I'm very relieved! Lost at least two days worth of work piddling with the darn thing. The tech person never admitted that there were others with the same problem. But now it is fixed; the sun is shining, the birds are singing, and I can sleep comfortably!
