Reaching the outskirts of Carrara, we began the trip up the mountain on our way to the marble quarries. The sights along the road were interesting as well as breathtaking. All of these images were taken through the tour bus windows with a Nikon D7500 and Nikkor 18-300 f3.5-5.6 lens at f7.1, 1/800 sec, auto ISO. There was intermittent rainfall accounting for the spots on the windshield. The cyan stripe across the top of some of the images was caused by the tinted sunshade on the windshield.

If you hadn't mentioned the cyan window color, I would have thought it was just an interesting variation in the shading of the sky's blue. As for the drops on the glass, I didn't exactly do a close inch by inch search, but I didn't see any. So!!!
Other than that, Mark, the pics are, as usual, gorgeous, interesting and, once again, jealousy inducing.

Otherworldly beauty and sights spectacularly captured After all the traveling that you have done everywhere, how is your shooting finger holding up I keep thinking that if I were there seeing all these glorious things, I would be hyperventilating while trying to capture everything photo-worthy - and I am pretty sure it would be an incredibly intense experience

Thanks so much for your kind comments Mel. I mentioned the cyan color and the drops since inevitably someone notices and comments/criticizes and it serves as a preemptive explanation. The drops are visible on the old steam engine.

Thanks so much Joe. Gail and I often argue whether not I'm enjoying the surroundings or just concentrating on trying to get the perfect shot. I think my enjoyment is enhanced by picturing the scene as an image (pardon the pun). When travelling through the countryside on the tour bus, I subscribe to the "run and gun" philosophy which does lead to shutter finger fatigue. This unfortunately leads to difficult culling during post since I'm a pack rat and find it painful to discard things. That mode of shooting was not possible in the film days when my wallet was much thinner!

Another excellent set Mark. It reminds me of the many photos I took from tour busses last year. As you know, this year we rented a car and drove around Italy and it was a different experience. I wasn't able to take any photos, other than when we stopped (an advantage of a rental car), but my wife got a lot with her phone while I drove. I'm anxious to get into another rental car for more driving around Italy; that is now our preferred way to see Italy.

Wonderful set, Mark. Loved that you caught some of the Carrara quarries in the background of your photos. Very nicely done.
