We left Florence early and took the 2-hour drive to the Apuan Alps and the city of Carrara, the world capital for mining and processing and trading of white marble. The route was quite scenic with many small hill towns along the way. We were particularly struck by the modern structures built around ancient ones which were preserved. These images were all captured from the tour bus windows using a Nikon D7500 with a Nikkor 18-300 f3.5-5.6 lens. All were shot at f 7.1, 1/640 sec auto ISO.
I hope you enjoy them!

Well done Mark, by the master of from the tour bus photos. We had several choices in the area on our port call in Livorno on our cruise from Barcelona to Venice last year. Livorno was the only port where we docked overnight, resulting in two full days in the area. Carrara was one of the tours offered. However, we chose Pisa and Lucca for the first day and Florence (focused on the Uffizzi) for the second day. This year, we spent two days in Lucca and 3 in Florence, but missed Carrara again. I'm looking forward to seeing what we missed.

Thanks so much Dennis. Make sure you book the quarry tour. I'm processing those images now. It's like nothing I've ever seen before!
Wonderful set, Mark. Thanks for sharing the camera settings.
