Our local school district was offered $8.3 million for twenty-two electric buses and peripherals. They declined the offer. There was too much to do to meet the requirements and provide charging facilities. A fire that couldn't be extinguished was another concern. I think it's just as well.

Good for them -

Did they discuss the weight of the new buses and what it would do to the roads?

1. I don't know what "peripherals" are involved and I don't know what a new school bus costs (Mr. Google sez <$87,000), but it seems to me that $377,273.00 per bus is pretty steep, yikes!!!
2. "Our local school district was offered $8.3 million" of your tax $$$ to suit their agenda to buy votes. This must be "Surplus, and unbudgeted school building COVID Upgrade $$$.
3. The tax $$$ for rebates (Think Gifts Of Our Tax Dollars for the rich) on EV cars is way out of reach financially for the overwhelming majority of TAX Payers.

Finally, Jerry, I'm not attacking you.

No mention of weight, but we have lots of small bridges here.

In addition to the buses, the money would cover "stuff" required - not sure exactly what stuff.

Jerry!

Did the vendor include super-long extension cords with that price?

Be well! Ed

Jerry, I couldn't agree with you more!!!!! The more I think about it, the more I believe our century is not a total electric time. Maybe in the next century, who knows?

The fire issue with lithium batteries is enough to reject them. The overweight bus on small bridges is also a concern.

Does anyone remember the 'Cash for Clunkers'? If you do then you may also remember the 'Corn for Fuel' taxpayer-supported program. And...let's never forget the great solar panel taxpayer funding of Solyndra that went belly-up shortly after getting $570,000,000 in a taxpayer loan which was never repaid (ever wonder where all that money went?).
