Giid tip but yy ignore list must be up to capacity- if there is such a limit. The bad guys just keep coming. I give up! No use reporting them or arguing and adding fuel to the fire. I just make a note and ignore (block) them in manual mode with no automatic assistance or lists.

Actually the “Ignore” feature doesn’t block much. If I remember correctly, people on your Ignore list cannot send you private messages. Anything they post in topics you are following is not blocked. Can someone please verify this?

I hate to say it, but a lot of photos have too much saturation. And some of those are from professionals. One professional was called out by some of his friends. And, after a reexamination of his more recent photos, he realized his friends were right. It is so easy to add more saturation than what one needs. I know I have done it too. I would not be surprised if just about every photographer has done the same from time to time. Just like the professional photographer, if someone tells you you have too much saturation, reexamine the photo/photos. No reason for anger; a proper reevaluation will show one where the truth is. Always treat criticism as a chance to learn.

I work a lot with saturation, setting my desired level of saturation for each individual color, then looking at the overall image and see if I need to further adjust. I know too much saturation can destroy detail, and I stop short of that. I sometimes get "too much saturation" comments, but I am very aware of how much saturation is right for me, so I ignore them. Some people can't seem to tolerate any more saturation than was already there.

~ So, today someone posted a flower image (one of many - every day, and I'm also guilty). The Poster was VERY proud of their image and said so in the Title and Body of the text in their post. I personally was not enamored with how the image was processed, so I refrained from posting my thoughts on said image.
...However, one poster actually did post, that while it was a very nice image, in his/her opinion was a bit over-saturated (even stating it was still a nice image)! Oh, My!! What a Faux Pas that was!! The original poster tore that person up in no uncertain terms! How DARE that someone have an opinion of his/her work other than Praises from On High!!
~ So, I'm just curious. Why is the Photo Gallery Off Sides to Any critical review? I DO understand that there is a critique section on UHH. So, then, do we always have to Ooooo and Aaahh at images in the Photo Gallery? We must all support images good or bad and save all our Heart Emojis and Thumbs - Up's for images that are borderline if not outright poorly done? I know for a fact that my own images need a lot of work, so I'm def not the Golden Boy/Girl here!

Anybody?

Keep slugging. This is an OPEN forum, which makes anything posted here subject to praise, criticism, or to be absolutely ignored. And you are right about 80% or so of the postings (including my own); they are normally decent snapshots. But dig and ye shall find.

That completely ignores that this forum has different sections which have different levels of expectations of criticism. Sometimes people just want to share photos with no criticism, and that's what the Photo Gallery was designed for, unless people ask for comments. Also, if I see a photo in the Gallery which the OP is obviously really proud of, and I think it is horrible, then we are probably too far off the same page for me to give constructive criticism, so I'll pass it by.

If I have something negative to say, I send the person a private msg. We are World Wide and it's difficult to have your tone reflected in a post. Especially with diffrent nationalities involved.

Concur.

Besides, as a great philosopher once said, "One man's ceiling is another man's floor."

Exactly! That is why I just ignore the nonsense and folks who write nonsense. There is no actual black except for private messages.

Some criticisms, no matter how carefully and courteously written, may not be well received by some people. Some of those who think they have something constructive to say can be just as "guilty" of carrying a fragile ego. There is always the option of sending a private message if the critiquer just can't stand to be quiet.

If the photographer doesn't ask for feedback in Photo Gallery, and it isn't worth positive reinforcement or an outright wow, just move on.

When I first joined here, I posted a photo to demonstrate something, and people were determined to critique all kinds of other things. I ‘ve been ‘shy’ about posting photos here ever since.

When I first joined here, I posted a LOT of flower pictures. Someone told me I liked flowers far too much. My pictures were very poor...still are. I still get by with posting here. I think of this as being a place for beginners, super pros and everyone in between. If I can....anyone can. Here's something to think about: If you live to be 200, there will always be some photographers better than you are, BUT there will also always be some worse than you are, soooo don't hold back, bring it on!!! I recently had to have a pep talk AGAIN too. These people are good at pep talks!!!

IMHO anyone who post a picture to a public forum/FaceBook is a target for a critique: good, bad, and/or ugly. Period!

Why would you want to critique someone's work who doesn't want a critique? Just to demonstrate your superiority?
