It amazes me how people can take a story pass it around and by the end of the line it is a different story. All I said was I received an email from an unknown source about a Z9 upgrade. The email had a downlowd button which led me nowhere. I thought maybe a scam and just a warning to be on the lookout. I owned Nikon my whole life and never once said it wasn't a top notch product. Some people must be so bored the create what is not there and make it there. Wow! Good luck

In my opinion it amazes a whole lot of us how you can TITLE your post, Beware Nikon. Then you write some silly stuff about a firmware update that apparently you did not understand. Others seemed to understand the firmware notification, downloaded the firmware with no problems and have had no problems with the camera since.

Time to wake up my friend and realize YOU started this whole ball rolling because YOU did not understand a simple firmware notification and then posted Beware Nikon. Nothing to beware Nikon about at all. You should have posted beware keywest305.

I remember for years the joke around the UPI news desk was this, " The only good Canon, was a broken Canon", cause there was not much difference between a broken one and a un broken one, they both sucked.

And besides, without Nikon advances, Canon would not bother to improve. All camera manufactures make each other better. Without competition, nothing would improve.

I've learned to consider the source when taking advice.

Of all the fixes, the White Balance statement (#3) caught my eye.

Nikon Firmware 4.01 (From Nikon USA) specifically states fixes for:

The camera would in rare circumstances stop responding or fail to record a video correctly if an attempt for video recording took place after the standby timer had expired then reactivated with [Frame size/frame rate] set to 1920 × 1080 in the VIDEO RECORDING MENU.

- The [Choose image area] and [Switch FX/DX] roles assigned to camera controls were disabled when a slow-motion video option was selected.

- The first shot in burst photography would sometimes fail to acquire appropriate white balance when [Auto] or [Natural light auto] was selected for white balance.

- If shooting continued while [ON] was selected for [PHOTO SHOOTING MENU] > [Photo flicker reduction], the photo live view display would be partially disrupted.

I guess the "Beware Nikon" title of the thread is a bit silly.

...and that is the reason you would head a post with 'Beware Nikon'. Whatever has occurred does not warrant such a headline. If this was an 'honest' error, where is your understanding, compassion, patience, etc.

I guess that no one has ever sent out a post 'Beware Keywest 305' upon a mistake made by you.

Beware Keywest 305, the time is coming!
