Nikon Z8 named camera of the year (but Sony, Canon and Fujifilm all win EISA awards). Any of your fav brands on the Winners list this year?

It's down for the flange and lug recall, I've no concerns regarding Nikons support. I'd been holding off suspecting there may be problems with the method I sourced it into Fiji, but the importer has been positive advising they will deal with everything.

Cheers and best to you

Thanks for that info gwilliams. And to answer your question..."Any of your fav brands on the Winners list this year?" My R6 II did happen to garnish a win. I really couldn't care one way or the other, but it is a great little camera and it suits me and my needs. I've got the battery grip and a half dozen RF lenses and I'm a happy camper.

Cheers and best to you.

Awards are meaningless. Results prove who the real winners are. And year in and year out the winners usually ends up being those with the best skill, experience, and knowledge of photography.
And, it will always be this way, no matter what camera brand a person uses.
I have shot most all camera brands, I find them all capable of producing fantastic results.

Love the shot Bill.

These annual awards take nothing away from all the great cameras and lenses that came before. As you know I am also a long-timer with 50 years in the business, so like you I have owned and used just about every brand, every model and generation of gear and made great shots with them all.

These are gear awards only, to honor the manufacturers' efforts. The Manufacturers do appreciate and care about these industry awards. And it certainly wont hurt their sales to have it announced they won these awards. LOL

They are NOT awards for the photos created by the gear, or for the photographers whose skill, knowledge and experience created those award-winning images with their gear of choice.

I think secretly for most photographers it is still fun to see your favorite brand doing well in the industry awards. It speaks to their continuing innovations, and this is a good thing for all of us IMHO.

Cheers and best to you Bill

The Z8 has strap lugs issues. It (and the Z9) are supposedly wildlife cameras, but the PreCapture mode is JPG only.

The Z8 does solve a problem I have, but I'm not willing to pay $4K for that solution.

I'm waiting for a real camera.

And what makes the Z8, and all the other cameras listed not โ€œreal camerasโ€?

I had a 3rd grade teacher that had that look permanently affixed to her face.
