Relatively new Fujifilm X100V that showed the error ! Focus Error. The ! was in red.

Tried to remove it by going thru all the menu's with no luck. Unable to continue shooting or anything
else until the error is removed and not return.

Does anyone have any suggestion, or must I bring it in for service somewhere?

Thank you,
Bart

Did you try a reset?

Hi Shellback,

Good idea, but not sure how that's done?
I re-formatted the memory card and re-set the menu to its default.
But don't think I re-set the camera? Confused I think?

It’s a menu option - is this what you did?

Have you set the camera to "Focus Without Lens", or moved the "M, C, S", switch on the left side of the body to "M", either of these could affect the ability to auto focus.

I doubt it has that option. It’s a fixed lens camera.

Checking the manual for my X100F, it says when FOCUS ERROR is displayed it means "Camera malfunction. Turn the camera off and then on again. If the message persists, contact a FujiFilm dealer"

I realize this is an earlier version of your X100V, and it's probably not what you want to hear. Nonetheless, it's from FujiFilm's manual.

Hope it's not too serious a problem.

Contact Fuji support. They are very helpful.

I'm not familiar with that specific camera but will offer some general suggestions.
What does the manual say? There is usually a section on errors or FAQ's at the back of the manual to cover such things.
Have you checked on the Fuji web site or on Fuji user web sites for some insight?
Fuji on-line support.
Remove the battery and force a "reboot".
Turn off GPS if it's available - I had a fuji that would get confused by GPS when indoors (no signal?).
Good luck - when done you'll be a bit smarter.

I have a X100T, they are probably all similar.

Did a little research....did you happen to add a filter or lens hood or something similar to the camera?

Does it have a built-in lens cap?
Does the lens move from a stowed position when started?

The problem sounds to me like an issue with ‘startup logic’ to me.

Could be the motor in your lens, is failing? I have had that happen to me with an X-3 and 27mm lens. The issue was the focusing motor failed .
