Also in Abu Dhabi there was only one Hotel, the .Al Ain Palace. Never enough rooms but the Lebanese manager would always allow everyone to sleep on the chairs in the lounge. I believe Abu Dhabi had only a few buildings back then but the had built a fabulous. Coastal Esplanade.

Dubai was pretty much the same. One hotel, The Carlton.
I worked in the Oilfields then so used to roughing it.
