This house was built right after the Civil War. It has been abandoned for the last fifty years. Additions were made prior to falling into disrepair. The barn in the back has to be somewhat newer.

Great shots, rc!

The house I grew up in (1951-1965) was built shortly after the Revolutionary War during the period 1801-1803 and still stands proudly today!

Frankly, Scarlett… (the home would make an awesome B&W study… I say “study” because it appears to me there are several different treatments that could evoke multiple “moods” here.

I think this shot may be something along the lines of what you were thinking about.

I would love to learn the history of that property. There must have been a tragic event within the family to cause the abandonment of a substantial piece of real estate. Wonder if there are any surviving family members. The no trespassing signs would indicate that there is some involvement

Snappin, I talked to the owner before I took any photos of this property. He lives across the street from it. It is in a very rural area. He said his Grandfather (or maybe his Great Grandfather) built the house right after the Civil War and he actually grew up in the house. He is an older gentleman so that is understandable. He did say the house has been vacant for over fifty years. He did warn me not to go inside. I would be afraid to even try that!
