This house was built right after the Civil War. It has been abandoned for the last fifty years. Additions were made prior to falling into disrepair. The barn in the back has to be somewhat newer.

Nice photos!! I love the barn photo!!
It’s so sad to see what was once someone’s home now about to be a pile of rubble.

Nicely done. I really like the barn though and the car looks a LOT like the 1954 Cadillac Fleetwood that I bought when I was 19 for the whopping sum of $200.00.
I'm not going to say how long ago that was, but dirt was still pretty fresh.
There is also an old car in the other end of the barn. It's an old olds from the same period. There is a pickup truck under a shelter right behind the house, but it's so covered up with vines you can hardly see it. I have a few photos of the property taken in the winter with every thing dead. I'll post a few of them later.
To see that restored Caddy parked in front of that restored home would really be something.
Frankly, Scarlett… (the home would make an awesome B&W study… I say “study” because it appears to me there are several different treatments that could evoke multiple “moods” here.

I have done that, and I agree. I think the photos with all of the foliage dead is perfect for the high contrast photos like you are considering.
I’m thinking that foliage might be part of what ever is holding the house up. If you have tried monochromatic treatments, did you remove the no trespassing signs? I’m guessing they would detract if they’re not absolutely sharp, the house itself wouldn’t be degraded much if it were a little “soft” around the edges. At any rate this screams “Gone With The Wind” even though the original was in Technicolor (I think.) Really love this post as is. Thank you.
Beautiful shots. Sometimes, hell most times, people's actions amaze me. How could someone just walk away from something like that? In 1973 that would have been a house to be proud of, it would still be if it had been taken care of.

Cool. I bet that they could tell a few stories.
A once proud place. Nicely photographed.
That's my kind of territory to stomp around in. I've seen literally hundreds of those kind of scenes over the years but each one has it's own story and unique appeal.
Great work on shooting this one.
